Free Movie Thursday Night September 6th from 6PM to 9PM
Come join us for a screening of DIRT! The Movie Thursday night. Atlantic Center for the Arts Community Artist Tory Tepp will screen movies most every Thursday from 6PM to 9M. The movies will be ones he finds informative, inspirational or relevant to his work. The screening will be at ACA's Harris House facility, 214 S. Riverside Drive, New Smyrna Beach. welcome to all terrain- into the initial phases
its been a lovely beginning to the residency and the project. the past week was spent combing the streets on bicycle, looking for possible sites. biking slowly, with curiosity and intent, literally up and down every street, proves an intimate way to get acquainted with an area. though i used the loop as a guide for my meanderings, i allowed the road to dictate the path and just followed the wheels. as of this morning i have logged over seventy five possible locations for developing eco-sculptural installations. these sites include public parks, vacant lots, large street medians, demolished home slabs, open fields and the like, both public and private. the next phase will be to narrow down the list by talking with the city and determining ownership as well as actual usability. if you know of a potential site with enough space to accommodate a temporary public installation, please feel free to let me know.
Open Studio Hours Wednesday Sept. 12 from 2PM to 5PM
Come meet our Community Artist in Residence Tory Tepp Wednesday from 2PM to 5PM. He's going out of town Thursday so there WILL NOT be open studio hours on Friday and Saturday, and there won't be a movie this Thursday night.
Next week we will be back on our normal schedule with open studio hours Wed. 2PM to 5PM, Free Movie night on Thursday 6PM to 9PM, and more open studio hours Fri. 10AM to 1PM and Saturday 10AM to 2PM.
The movie next week is another good one, Microcosmos.
Don't be afraid because it's French with English subtitles, because there is hardly any narration at all and the sound and visual narrative will amaze you.

214 South Riverside Drive, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168, USAhere is the framework upon we we can begin building the map. upon this fairly comprehensive street map of new smyrna beach we can begin to collectively log all manner of details associated with public and private space. intended to be a reference and a guide, plotting information in a visual fashion may yield interesting associations and relationships, which may compliment the more experiential, street view. we will be adding to this and building this map at the open studios for the duration of the residency. this map will never be complete and will always require modification and updates.
