Rooster is super cuddly with Jake, but it’s not what you think: the Daggers made him this way.
He’s renowned for sleeping like a corpse - once he’s down he’s not moving again until morning.
Jake, however, sleeps like a 5 year old child. Squirmy. Flails violently. Tosses and turns constantly. Talks in his sleep. Grunts and whines and smacks his lips. Kicks. Sometimes gets up and sleepwalks. And he’s so hard to wake up, no matter what they throw at him or how much they yell. He wakes up sometimes with his head down at the footboard and his feet off the mattress when he’s alone. It gets on EVERYBODYs nerves when they all have to bunk together (like Mav’s house for movie night), and he wakes up in a heap of pillows and couch cushions and shoes from where they’ve thrown anything within grabbing distance at him to shut him up.
Solution: make Bradley “Sleeps like a dead guy” Bradshaw hold him down all night. It’s either that or duct tape him in a blanket burrito and shove him in the coat closet.
At first they both balk at the idea but Phoenix bullies them, and honestly, once they do, it’s maybe kind of comfortable? Comforting? Bradley wraps four limbs all the way around him like an octopus and uses Jake as a body pillow. Full, solid weight on top of him, smooshing him, and once he goes to sleep neither of them are moving again until he wakes up. Jake gets better quality sleep now that he’s not using so much energy, and kind of likes the feeling of security from being wrapped up in an overheating vice grip all night.
It starts out only being when the Daggers are together, but a few awkward conversations later they start “platonically” sleeping together. You know, to sleep better. Then it’s at the bar when theres only one chair. At the beach sharing a towel to sunbathe. Suddenly the Daggers realize Rooster’s wrapped around Hangman all the time now.
And if they hApPeN to get married later, what of it. It’s the squad’s fault for turning them into cuddle monsters.
