Vox is a creep

I love it when fics write Vox as the creep that he is. In a horrible or funny way. Cause he is a creep. He's a greedy man who only wants to take until there's nothing left, and still want more.

And Vox is a hilarious character to me, I love seeing those memes that talk about how Vox is a white man who only got away with being a suspect of murder cause he's white. Cause he's just another white man who thinks he's owed things that are not his.

And I'm not saying this cause I ship Alastor and Lucifer. Im not a fan of Radiostatic not cause I'm an Appleradio fan, but it's cause I really like Radiosilence. It's hilarious to me that Alastor harshly rejected Vox cause of a probable misunderstanding, but is there real proof that Vox is this pitiful person who never considered to use Alastor for his powers?

To me, Vincent will never be enough for Alastor. For serial killers, they're way too different.

so i work non stop across the top four media capitals in the world, i've done so for a while

i don't want to doxx myself

but i'm aware i'm snapping and i'm tired, i'm so tired

i'm tired of a friend being laid off every other day because they're being replaced by ai

i'm tired of consumers not giving a flying shit and before you say they do - sales numbers say they don't, and that's all these people care about. the people who care aren't spending and i don't blame them because we're all fucking skint rn

layoffs, layoffs, layoffs

you hate how much screenplays are now explaining things? sadly you're in the minority, and the numbers show it, and that's why it keeps happening

i sit in these meetings

i hate them

we have no voice

because we don't have the economic capital to have a voice

anything written or created that's uncynical is considered kiddy and 'worthless to market'

everyone is putting billions into vertical and ai and it makes me sad seeing my friends - friends that have poured years of their lives working on some of the biggest productions in the world - having to accept jobs at less than half the pay because the bottom is falling out of Hollywood

people are crying every day

people are leaving the industry every day

these aren't small creators that are trying to build themselves up for the first time

these are people that have been working their ass off for years that can't take how much it is destroying their mental health

these are people who have realised that there is no money in creating anymore, and that you have to accept you have to do it as a side job for free

so many of my friends have stopped watching media because we all know how much blood and abuse and mistreatment has gone into a project but we're under fucking NDAs that we had to accept because we need to eat

so nobody can say anything and we have to watch as ordinary people lap it up as art, never able to know how much discrimination and dirt has gone into a product that is going to purely line the pockets of billionaires

they aren't making this work because they care about any of us

they aren't making this work because they care about art

that's the minority not the majority

i'm tired of hearing about creative friends committing suici--

every day they're leaving, either alive or not

i don't know what the point of me writing or doing anything creative is anymore

no one fucking cares

the audiences that care are kind people who aren't able to spend money because they're spending their time not sucking people's blood so they don't have much money, so they aren't buying

so to the people keeping us alive, these audiences might as well not exist

it's only the rich

and they're making 'art' in their image

and slowly making audiences as cynical as they are, making the world in their greedy image

art is dying, storytelling is dying

So... this is probably only really an issue for me, but I wanted to at least get it out of my system and in some kind of written format.

So FFXVI came out, right? I hear it's great; looks great, plays great, story's great, XVI is just great.

So, a trend popped up some weeks ago in the XIV community; people began asking what eikon your WoL/OC would be the dominant of. Options ranged from dungeon bosses to trials to raid bosses; no real limit save your imagination.

Now, I pondered this for a while, seeing some folks make connections to things like Shiva, Alexander, Bahamut, etc., and they all have a reason that makes sense for the eikon to be connected to them. And it's cool to see what they come up with! Naturally, I wanted to find one for I'lyanna.

I spent hours looking through different bosses and primals, even trying to make some big creatures from the overworld fit. In the end, after looking over every match I felt could work...

I've got nothing. Not a single answer as to who I'lyanna would be a dominant for.

So why am I writing this post?

Simple: It bothers me WAY more than it should.

I'lyanna is still a major work in progress. I love her so much and want to make the most of her story... but there are days where I really feel I don't know what that story is. As the meme goes, I've got the most basic, generalized idea of a story in my head... but when I try to put it all together, it feels like I have several pieces of different puzzles that LOOK like they should fit, but naturally don't because they come from different places. Is that a bad thing? Not really; it just takes some refinement, some time and patience, and working out the finer details.

So why is something as insignificant as a concept from a different Final Fantasy so crucial to me?

...I guess it really isn't. It just irritates me that I can't find one. Like, on the level of "I want my baby to fit in and be loved, but I can't find out what makes her similar to the other kids."

In terms of character writing and story development, this is probably the least important thing to be spending my emotional energy on. I'lyanna is still a charming, if traumatized, young woman who has plenty of story still to be told. But as far as feeling like I understand her and who her character is...

I want to believe this silly trend could've helped.

You know, I came with the Nova Nihil name back in the last elections. I was playing way too much Titanfall 2.

And I had this flashback about the extensive history lessons on Rome. You guys don't know, but I was obsessed with Rome in college. It wasn't because I thought it was great but more because my real obsession was Sumerian mythology (literally made a cult to it that had ever-growing followers). Anyway, Rome was the epitome. The fourth (fifth?) plagiarism of a culture that ended up imploding because of its hubris. It was glorious in its predictable disaster.

The election reminded me of that. So Nova Nihil showed up in a piece of art I made. Nova=new, Nihil=nothing. Nothing new. But it sounds edgy as fuck!

So I humorously went for it.

Anyway, I need a new nickname.

I don’t like how when I’m not at school or working or going off of some set schedule, time for me just ceases to exist and hours fly by in a blink of an eye. There are still things for me to do (things that I should finally have the time for), but while I do them, it never seems to be enough. Sometimes I wanna do everything all at once, but then when I try and do that, I end up doing nothing and getting nothing accomplished. And then the stupid thoughts begin to take over and remind me of how worthless I am and how I’m letting life pass me by. Thoughts that make me pick at my skin and scalp, trying to pull and scrape away the imperfections. Time flies by and I don’t remember what I’ve eaten or if I’ve eaten at all. I try to get rid of the thoughts by listening to music and singing my heart out, but then that just makes time go by even faster and I’m still not accomplishing what I need to. What I want to. 

In the end, I actually want to do what I need to do, but entertainment and enjoyment somehow become work. OCD kicks in and everything becomes more complex than it really should be. Ambition kicks in and tells me that I should get all of it and everything done right now. Right now. And I can’t focus on one task at once, it has to be everything and everything. The problem is....when I focus on everything, all I get is nothing. But when I let the OCD part of my brain take over, I focus too much on the minor details and that takes forever and I feel like pulling my hair out again. I keep fighting to find that middle ground. I want to actually do what I want without worrying about time going by or wasting away. I don’t want to feel like a waste of space. If I could stay awake forever, I think that would be nice. If I could erase all the negative thoughts in my mind or at the very least, just learn to turn up the music in my brain to drown them all out, that would be amazing. But how does one keep the sun from rising and keep the darkness away all at the same time?

Clover from Totally Spies is the GOAT. She is the best spy becuz she is balanced and more rational when the other two are freaking out.

How many times do I have to see Clover getting terrible treatment from the girls then one measly sorry is all it takes for her to forgive them.

I love the girls but Clover deserves better treatment ngl. Whenever the girls go through tough times, Clover is always there to help them.

And when Clover is accused of something, Alex and Sam are so easily swayed and believes in the lie instead of Clover's own word.

In the episode when Clover was accused of stealing Sam's paper is baffling because hello?? Clover doesn't study that?? Why would she take your paper??

PS why is Genevieve so obsessed with Clover when Sam was the one who destroyed her plans?

Why do you think the villains always want Clover in their side? Because she is the best spy.

Toujours à penser à Pluribus.

C'est assez fort que les deux personnages les plus reclus socialement, technologiquement pas à la pointe, légèrement misanthropes, se révèlent les deux individus les plus humains au final. C'est assez beau, même.

Il y a aussi pas mal de parallèles avec le monde animal, mais je ne suis pas bien sûre de ce que la série veut nous dire. Clairement Carol finit par retrouver une forme d'animalité, en s'amusant à répondre aux animaux. Et Manousos se retrouve dans une situation où il est isolé dans une nature sauvage, comme un animal.

Il me semble aussi que la façon dont les Autres cherchent à approcher Manousos et Carol au début de la saison (notamment en leur donnant littéralement des gamelles de bouffe) ressemble volontairement à la domestication des animaux. C'est encore plus flagrant avec Manousos, qui est alors enfermé comme dans une cage. Manousos et Carol restent sauvages, non domestiqués. Et cela qui, paradoxalement, les rend plus humains.

so i’m going to talk/rant/tell a story about concert and venue accessibility as someone who is disabled, is well educated in ADA compliance criteria, and just had the worst venue experience of my life bc of bad accessibility. it’s been 34 years since the ADA was passed, cmon!

ok, story time! i went to go see death cab for cutie at the grand sierra [casino] theatre in reno, nv. before i got there i looked at the website for accessibility information, as i do. i found zero. literally nothing, no ADA section in the menu, nothing at the bottom of the page, and nothing on the property map at all. no parking spots marked, no ramps, not even stairs or elevators. wtf. bad vibes from the start.

first thing i noticed when i got to the venue was that the ADA parking spaces were very poorly labeled, but that could be a nevada problem (they were short and white with green on them, and like no blue. never seen that before). the few i saw were full, and also not even accessible, as there were no marked crossings or paths to a curb ramp and the spaces were on slopes and cross slopes anyways.

so, we had to park quite far away from the entrance to the theatre, down a hill that had no sidewalk so i had to be pushed up a hill in the street. the crosswalks that went to the door had no curb ramps, so we had to go in the street farther until we could go up a curb ramp. then we had to walk/roll to the ramp that was too steep to actually get to the double set doors, which were heavy and did not have a single motorized door.

once we got to ticket check, i was asked if i could go down a couple stairs by the ticket checker, i guess because our assigned seats were down some stairs (a common theme here). mind you, i am sitting. in. a. wheelchair. i kinda snapped at the guy as my stress levels were alr high, i feel kinda bad but like. there are other ways you could have arrived at the conclusion that i would need a seat change. maybe he was new?

anyways. we then went to the box office counter to get a seat adjustment, which we did get after a couple minutes of them figuring out how to do that on the fly. but we got it, so fine.

to the ada seats! which were poorly labeled, i actually only saw one label at all and it was tiny and dark. but it was relatively obvious, as there were some chairs that could be moved to make room for a wheelchair. good! could’ve been labeled better, oh well lol. then i watched the show- it was fantastic! DCFC puts on a good live show.

i go to leave after the show ends. it is very apparent that the ramp to circumvent the exterior stairs was too steep, the railings too tall to actually be useful, and also not up to code regardless- purely ✨aesthetic ✨. and then back down the steep hill with no sidewalk to the car. i ended up driving around to where the ADA parking spaces were- there were about thirty of them, all full, and all in one (not accessible) spot. go to satellite imagery for the grand sierra casino and tell me they couldn’t have put more ADA spots in places and made them actually accessible. seriously. but whatever, i left. show was great, physical accessibility bad. i can’t speak on things like captioning, visual impairment accommodations, etc as i don’t have those and dont have a baseline for them.

finally, the social aspect of accessibility. i was looked at by staff members like i was an alien, and it was very quickly apparent that no one had any idea of what to do to help me, even as i almost tip backwards trying to go thru the metal detector. usually security (excluding airports ofc) have just let me bypass the scanner and they hand check my bag and stuff. the lack of, like, awareness and training? on how to assist guests with disabilities still baffles me.

overall, my takeaways were one, that that venue itself was built with able bodied people in mind and paid only the barest of attention to accessibility where required to by federal law; and two, that there is a systemic issue with staff that leads them to spitball at accommodations when there should be clear guidelines taught in trainings, and theoretically updated and retrained regularly.
