Okay let's start :3
In general, first I draw a sketch of the pose (I don't do it neatly like other artists, but it's so convenient for me. But you can do it however you like). Then on top of it the character (I chose Silver because I adore him XD)
Then I make a line and colour the character
But I do each colour on a separate layer (because it is convenient for me to do so)
When I'm done with this I start making shadows. First, I make them light with a Water Color brush.
Then I start adding the rest of the shadows, but darker. And where necessary, I paint something like "light shadows" (I don't know what it's called :p)
Finally, I add some more "light shadows" on top of all the details, highlights and use a Luminosity (Addition) and Overlay wherever I want. Also I change the colours of the line.
Also, if you want, you can add a background, as I did
