Hide was raised by a single father, for starters, and he lost him during elementary school? That means that both, Hide and Kaneki went through the same shit, but they save each other’s lives through it all. He also spent time at least one ccg facility, which explains his ghoul humor and fascination.

Second, Hide had gay dads! This sunshine boy! He was taught at young age that love was love, and then he met Kaneki! He most likely could have been in love with Kanek this whole time!

-Not to mention the fact that his dad was a ghoul investigator, which means he most likely died by the hands of a ghoul. All of the Kaneki-ghoul jokes that he made:

Was him saying that “even if you were a ghoul, I would still love you”

And he followed through with that! Even when Kaneki did become a ghoul, Hide tried his best to support him. He never gave up on Kaneki.

You cannot tell me that Touka and Hide both loved Kaneki, and Kaneki definately loved both of them back.
