Charles grins, walking backward on the cobbled streets of Monaco, hands shoved into his pockets. "Hmm… Maybe a little bit of both."

You narrow your eyes at him, a smile tugging on your lips. "I knew it."

He laughs, motioning for you to follow as he turns a corner. "I could take you to all those fancy places, but that's not the real Monaco."

"Oh? So what is the real Monaco?" You grin, raising an eyebrow at him.

"I'll show you 'round."

And so, the tour begins.

Not the tourist spots, not the picture perfect locations you see all over social media; his Monaco.

The tiny coffee shop nestled between the high hills where the owner greets him like family. The quiet view point where he used to sit for hours, thinking. The hidden alley tucked between grand apartments and designer shops where he and his brothers would race on bikes as kids.

It's quite different from what you expected. More personal. More him.

As the evening sets in, you find yourself by the water, watching the city lights reflect off the waves. There's no grand declaration, no overly romantic moment; just Charles leaning on the railing beside you, arms brushing, eyes flickering between the view and your face.

You could see the way his eyes shone with a certain gleam when he glanced at you, his cheeks slightly pink from the chill ocean breeze. There was a small smile tugging at his lips, as if he was making jokes to himself.

"Do you like it?" he asks, voice softer now.

You glance at him, at the way the golden lights make his features even sharper, at the way the sea breeze ruffles his hair, messing it up slightly.

Behind you two, the backdrop of high apartment buildings between the green hills bordering France shines brightly under the black sky, creating a beautiful view.

"Yeah," you say, barely above a whisper. "I think I do."

Maybe it's Monaco.

Maybe it's just him.

This is a photo of Campbell Lake in Anacortes,WA. It's a very cool photo because this is a picture of the only island on an island in the continental United States!! That little island in the middle of the lake is in a lake on Fidalgo Island so it's island to the second power!! I think that's a fun fact, don't you? It's a beautiful lake. People go fishing and water skiing in it, among many other pleasurable activities!! Driving a taxi for over 15 years, I became well versed in little known fun facts to share with my passengers. They loved it and I got great tips from being a taxi driver and a tour guide!!! I love that job!! I had so much fun every day at work. I might have to start driving a taxi again. It's a blast!! 😁😁😁

tbh I can't recommend becoming a caverns tour guide enough. It's a career that I think not a lot of people think of because they usually don't advertise. But it's such a fun job and believe it or not, it's great for introverts because you basically stick to a personalized script that you've just memorized over time and you get to walk through cool ass caverns/caves, and SOMETIMES you get to work with geologists! also you never need experience cuz they train you.
