Four episodes into season 3 of Castlevania, and what really bugs me isn’t the hate and fear of town guardsmen towards our ascetic forgemaster, it’s their idiocy and lack of sense. I mean, you are normal town guards, these hellspawn undead monsters outnumber you about 4 to one, why do you even bother talking with him if you’re just gonna charge anyway? What possibly makes you think that the necromancer is going to respect your authority and back off, and what makes you think you can force him to do any sort of thing if he doesn’t want to?

Video from yesterday, a wee bit blowy at times but turned out okay..Early in the 17th century, Edinburgh was densely populated with rich and poor living living cheek by jowl. The responsibility for maintaining law and order was the responsibility of the town guard. Seen here is a replica of Guard John Dhu. He is armed with a forbidding Lochaber axe. He was one of the most notorious guards, mostly ex soldiers and who were no stranger to fighting and drunkenness..On sunday 24th of march The Town Guard returned to Edinburgh for the first time since they were disbanded in 1817. The Guards have been resurrected by The Alan Breck's Volunteer Regiment a fine group who started as a living history group that has evolved into one of the best re-enactment societies taking it's place rightfully with the finest in Scotland.
