Fifteen was considered a marriageable age where he came from and Tom had assumed Chris would only be a decade older than him, but that hardly seemed to be the case. He was thirty, maybe forty, Tom wasn’t sure, and he probably shouldn’t be mentally gauging Chris’s age anyway if they were going to be married. Still, he couldn’t help but feel… unmoored by the situation.
Since @pohjanneito‘s post this morning regarding the ‘author’ Jerry Cole publishing and profiting from townpariah’s writing I’ve been able to think of little else.
The works in question are:
‘Office Dynamics’ which is actually Ergonomics by townpariah
‘Neighbors’ which is actually Taste of Cherry by townpariah
‘Wide Open Sky’ which is actually Sugar Blue by townpariah
UPDATE: A 4th story of townpariah’s has been discovered on Jerry Cole’s page.
‘Wide Open Sky 2′ is actually lord i was born a travelin' man by townpariah
I visited the author’s amazon page and used the ‘look inside’ tool to read snippets of the work. This is almost word-for-word townpariah’s story. ‘Jerry Cole’ has added further unnecessary detail to flesh the story out but every sentence of the original work is in there.
Comparisons below the cut. (Author’s reply added to bottom of post!)

I found the author’s facebook page and sent him the below message:
I then proceeded to reply to every comment that people had left on that facebook page praising his work, warning them not to buy any more because it was plagiarised.
I have recieved the below response from Jerry:
So I emailed him:
REPLY ADDED:
He claims to have hired a ghost writer to supplement his work.
The few people I’ve spoken to on facebook who purchased his work said they paid $0.99 for the kindle edition of the book. So I have to wonder how an indie author selling epubs for one dollar each requires or affords a ghost writer?
This guy is publishing 1-2 books per month. Even with a ghost writer, who has that sort of time? Most likely scenario is that all of the works are stolen from unsuspecting fandom writers.
I’ve forwarded his email to townpariah and won’t be making any further moves on this until she replies to me.
Futher updates: Jerry Cole has deleted the comments on facebook, plus a comment left by @thorloptr. One of the stories has disappeared from Amazon but remains up on his website.
Jerry Cole has made a statement via his facebook page, but appears to state that ONE story had been stolen from townpariah (the one that disappeared from Amazon).
Honestly, not only do I question the sincerity of his apology but I also question the excuse.
Further update: Jerry Cole has stated on his facebook page that the situation has been resolved amicably with the author. This is not the case. townpariah has requested the details of the alleged ghostwriter and has heard nothing back. Jerry Cole (whoever he or she is) is on serious damage control mode. We cannot let them brush this under the rug!
Huge, huge thanks to @riffraff7love for alerting @pohjanneito to this - without your message this guy would’ve continued to sell townpariah’s work as his own.
