So I have a theory (a game theory) on iTrapped in TPC, I think iTrapped struggles w/ his selfesteem and so that’s why he always is saying he’s pretty and perfect & shit, and why he laughs all the time. Bc of wtv happened before and now he has to try to feel better bout himself by saying nice things bout himself and being the way he is.
This is my take on why he acts like he does, or maybe he just’s happy :p idk
@witchandstrawberry @coresystem @cyberrcyanide SO I WAS JUST RANDOMLY ON THE NON CANON TPC WIKI, SPECIFICALLY ON TEALS PAGE, AND I SEE THIS. (FYI I HIGHLIGHTED SOME STUFF) ↓↓↓↓↓
IDK IF IM JUST CRAZY, BUT HOW DID I NOT NOTICE THIS
WHEN CYANIDE SAID THAT SHE WAS RUNNING "ATTACK MODE," I DID NOT FOR A DAMN SECOND THINK THAT SHE WAS WARNING CYAN TO RUN?? /gen
SHE DIDN'T WANT THE OTHER HEROES TO GET HURT BY HER- SHE SERIOUSLY DID NOT WANT TO BE EVIL. I GUESS SHE WAS BEING CONTROLLED BY SOMETHING???
TEAL/CYANIDE STILL HAD A SLIVER OF SELF CONTROL WHEN SHE WAS CORRUPTED? JUST ENOUGH TO WARN CYAN BEFORE GOING APESHIT???
HOW TF WAS CYANIDE NOT LIKE THAT WHEN SHE WAS IN HER FIRST AND SECOND FORM?? WHY IS SHE ONLY EVIL RIGHT BEFORE SHE GETS PURIFIED?????
Another thing I noticed during my rewatch that got me thinking.
I ended up mentioning a while ago how no one showed up to teach Cube basic caretaker stuff and how that was kinda shitty because it left Cyan to be our exposition dumper for 2-3 episodes. I think there may actually be a potential mentorship system though.
TLDR: Each caretaker is mentored by the previous one, progressively passing down and sharing the knowledge of each prior.
Long explanation under the cut.
This brief exchange is what tipped me off to the idea:
"The last hero of the Tree of Life was born and you know what that means!"
"I know, I know."
"I'll go look for Him while you go help the newbies!"
(Pentellow & Iris, S1E2)
Iris knowing exactly what was up and Pentellow insisting she go after Pyrare just got me thinking: Why wouldn't they make a plan of action together? Even if nothing changed, Iris' begrudging acceptance of the plan laid out by Pentellow makes it seem like he's had time to acknowledge and come to terms with the idea, but is still not thrilled with taking on an instructional role.
Iris looking melancholically at the photo of him and Orange could point towards a potential mental struggle to accept such a place in another individual's life from past experience. Something could have gone wrong between Orange & Iris while both were getting used to being a hero and caretaker respectively, damaging not only their relationship as a productive pair, but also their personal bond. Trying to take on that type of responsibility to teach another caretaker to flourish where he failed could be terrifying.
Another quote which brings me to believe that Iris is the intended mentor for Cube comes from Iris directly after reuniting with Pentellow, Cube, and their respective heroes.
"Well sorry if Dub blasted Cube miles away from me." (S1E3)
The fact that Iris mentioned Cube in particular, and not something about generally finding everyone, is very telling to me as well. You'd think if it were any other situation he would refer to finding everyone. And yet he was specifically looking for Cube. Why? Because Iris is responsible for him as his mentor.
In the following episodes throughout the series, Iris goes out of his way to bring Cube with him on missions. He also seems to always make sure they're taking on a prospective combat mission. Going after Lycanthropy, Ajaceare, AND Circubit respectively for example; even though going after AJ was Cyan's idea, Iris insists it's his responsibility to tag along with Cube & Cintagon to keep the former in check.
While he takes those missions, Pentellow & Pyrare usually end up with "go look for x shape" or something along those lines. That's not to say they never run into trouble. The trouble they do run into, if ever, is usually unintended or accidental though.
The missions Iris & Cube go on are quite empty as far as proper caretaker mentoring goes. If I had to guess, Iris is relying more on the experience of the mission itself to teach Cube rather than trying to do it himself. Despite having significantly more experience, he still often allows Cube to take the wheel (with the exception of going after Circubit because that one was personal). The one time Cube takes action on his own, however, is with his second run-in with Acrilimus. Cube kills it, and Pyrare immediately speaks up. Guess who's standing next to Pyrare uncomfortable out of his goddamn mind?
I encourage you guys to go back to that scene and keep an eye on Iris while Pyrare is talking. Despite it being fairly basic, I feel like his body language is quite telling when you look at that situation with this in mind. Although to be fair Cube did just commit fish murder so there's that too. My point still stands though.
I definitely take this as a thinly veiled struggle with mentorship. Iris clearly struggles with the idea, so he defaults to lessons purely by experiencing the reality Cube is going to live in with Cyan moving forward (not referring to corrupted Paradise). The first time Cube takes action in a full-group situation, he goes to the highest extreme from the get-go. Pyrare, being the oldest and the first of the caretakers, steps in to correct him. With Cube's probably unofficial mentor standing right next to him. Ouch. Just. Ouch.
-----
Evidence of a seniority-based mentorship system doesn't ONLY pop up between Iris & Cube though. I see it between Pentellow & Pyrare as well. Not only because of how she interacts with and talks about him, but also because of what she knows about him.
"How is this possible? Pyrare is always here. . . He's strong enough to take down most corrupts." (Pentellow, S1E3)
Anyone who's seen the series and has been here for a hot minute knows damn well the closest we've gotten to seeing Pyrare fight was using a giant dustpan to make piles of corrupted flowers during the final battle of Season 1. The fact that Pentellow confidently states this could imply a few things:
She's seen him fight.
She's seen his abilities at some point.
She knows enough from something like, say, a sparring match to make that claim.
Not to mention how she knows there's a place that he frequents. It almost makes me think they might have started to meet there even after Pyrare stepped away from training her, just to connect. They do seem like close friends after all.
"PYRARE!"
"Pentellow! Glad to see you in good health."
"Uhm. . . Why didn't you tell me he was a monster. .?"
"Oh! Was that important? I'm sorry."
(Pentellow, Pyrare, & Cube, S1E4)
That last part between Cube & Pentellow especially strikes me as something special. She's gotten so used to Pyrare as an individual that him being a monster shape no longer holds much, if any, meaning to her. As far as the fear associated with the identity goes, that is. She completely forgets that someone could be scared of him at all. She is still cautious of monster shapes, but when it comes to Pyrare everything is different. Their dynamic on missions just seems natural, if that makes sense. Not only that, but the way he talks to Pentellow as opposed to how he talks to anyone else. Not that either is bad; it's simply how he seems much less reserved while talking with her. Just go back and look at conversations Pyrare has had and you'll see what I mean. (I will say Ajacenus is a solid point of reference for your average friendly Pyrare interaction.)
just remembered this was here so I just finished it to post anyway have thing :]
I was wondering about ever since that it is already mentioned by Pentellow by the end of Season 1, Episode 3 [1] about at some point, Pyrare used to been semi-corrupted by the virus, but not fully.
I was thinking once we finally get to Season 3, I was theorizing if Pyrare ever likely "meet his corrupted counterpart" when he was still infected in the past, such as:
Questions:
What does Pyrare's corrupted counterpart look like?
Did Pyrare ever meet his counterpart in person?
What does Pyrare's soul realm look like?
Did his corrupted counterpart reveal any crucial information that remains unknown to us?
Did the counterpart ever expose Pyrare's personal insecurities, similar to how Cube's insecurities were revealed on his caretaking skills?
I'm still speculating that, as when Season 3 unfolds, I'm hoping might gain deeper insight into Pyrare's past corruption. It's possible his counterpart could make an appearance or be referenced in a flashback if it will ever probably happen.
Yall. I just noticed something in tpc and I dont think my heart can take it..
So we all know how iris and orange have a good bond, right? But I dont think they have the best bond... Especially after looking at the details of orange's face whenever iris uses his ability near him..
For example this, scene. Right before iris walked by orange was fine, ya know he was chillen. But then when iris walked by while using his ability, he's automatically scared?
LOOK AT HIM. HES TERRIFIED.
And it happens again too!
Why is he so scared???? Does he know too much about iris?? Has he had some sort of vision of the future that involves iris?????
Someone help me put my mind at peace! Anyone pppllleeeaaassssseeeeee!!
