Trace Decay
Paradigm
Melbourne, Australia -- Strap in this Friday morning with Trace Decay’s newest track “Passivity.” This song is the perfect blend of beachy indie rock with tinges of psychedelic pop. The instrumentation is lush with its jangly guitar hooks and synthy layers. “Passivity” is insanely catchy and brings back the sound of indie rock from early 2010s. The raw energy of the track will definitely get listeners head banging along to the rhythm and dancing the night away.

Newcomer Trace Decay emerges out of Australia with a dashing first single named ‘How Did It Come To This?’, and immediately we’re drawn to its brisk stride and bittersweet melody. The Brisbane based songwriter and producer traces the poignant ending of a romantic relationship on the debut track, which showcases a distinct alt soundscape tinged with elements of dark 80s new wave. Despite that brooding element, ‘How Did It Come To This?’ is an uplifting listen, with warm vocals and an earnest message. It also exhibits a wonky, snappy step to its beat that sometimes evokes Metronomy. The track aligns with Trace Decay’s name, in that “Decay theory proposes that memory fades due to the mere passage of time. Information is therefore less available for later retrieval as time passes and memory, as well as memory strength, wears away. When we learn something new, a neurochemical 'memory trace' is created,” explains Trace Decay. Melancholic alt pop with a vivacious, vigorous vitality, color us hooked. Download/stream, here.

tbh was one of my favorites if only to hear Maeve say “the marshals decided to practice their quick draws with each other”
