Mapping your runs
I'm a big fan of lists and keeping track of things, which is why I love keeping track of how many miles I run each week. I use Map My Run to track each of my routes on my phone. As you're running, the app will tell you when you reach 1 mile, 2 etc. and tell you your time and split time or pace. I also have been keeping an Excel document on Google Drive with a couple friends to track our runs and stay on top of our training. It helps me not only to see what my friends are doing, but to keep myself accountable for following our training schedule. You can just put in a schedule for a race or any goal ("run 15 miles a week by this date" or "complete a 5k by this date") and then track your progress. This definitely helps to keep me motivated, and I personally need to have some sort of race or other milestone to work towards or else I'm less likely to run as much. This also helps people see improvements in their times and personal records, which is another great motivator. When I see where I was even a few months ago in terms of running a mile in a certain time or the amount of mileage I could cover, I'm always really shocked by the improvements I've made. So if you need some motivation and enjoy lists as much as I do, I definitely recommend tracking your runs. :)
