I'm entrusting your beautiful mind and writing (that I adore) with this very special ask: HCs for what it's be like to be with our nerdy photographer Rick on a road trip?

Hey, sweet thang! Thank you so much; what a wonderful ask! I’m so glad you love our resident photo boy. Because I’m recontextualizing Rick into a modern AU character (just to steer clear of RPF), you’ll be hearing a bit more about him when his Meet the Boys segment comes out—let’s just say road-tripping is a big part of his life. ;)

So as not to spoil your appetite, here are some light road-trip snaccs.

For Rick, all things are about the journey, not just the destination—road trips included. If there’s a scenic byway, he’ll take it. If there’s a waterfall or scenic overlook or secret swimming hole an hour out of the way, you better bet you’re detouring.

Even though he’s updated his stereo with a Bluetooth connection, he still has a slot for tapes. No, not CDs—tapes. If you stop in a town with a good record store, the two of you love rifling through the 25¢ boxes of tapes looking for old-school faves and things you’ve never even heard of before. Last time, you spent a whopping dollar to pick up some Paul Simon, Fela Kuti, A Tribe Called Quest, and Les Surfs to hold you over till the next state.

You’re always stocked up on road trip snacks, and you’ve got a little camp stove for times when you want to brew a cup of coffee or tea on the go. Oh, and the two of you don’t ever stay in hotels on multi-day trips—did I mention his ride is this VW Westfalia?
