Here's a new painting. Prints on my etsy, when they are printed.
Most likely inaccurately talking about historical events plus unnecessary detail: the creation of crab Rangoon
Ever wonder the origin of crab Rangoon? Ever thing to yourself how this delicious little morsel came to be???????
Well here's the 100000% real story of the conception of crab Rangoon (conveniently in bullet points)
It all starts in the Zhou dynasty (western Zhou dynasty to be specific) when crabs were even more commonly eaten than before
Also five dynasties later in the Song dynasty there is a poem named "Crab at Mount Lushan", this poem is about the joys of eating crab and drinking wine
Now fast forward around 681 years to the 1960s and scrap everything you've learned so far, because crab Rangoon wasn't created in China. It was made by Chinese immigrants in America
These immigrants have taken a taste of home to America with the ingredients that are readily available here (like certain vegetable's, or in this specific case cream cheese)
Chinese American restaurant owner and chef Victor Bergeron is generally believed to be the true father of crab Rangoon
Victor's restaurant, Trader Vic's, popularized and served said fried wontons with cheese and crab in the 1950's
It seems that many many establishments have followed suit and began making and selling their own crab Rangoon
details could be wrong I kind of just wanted an excuse to do light research on something, honestly this is more of a slight info dump/me having fun writing
