Natural wood shafts of Wild Rose after three weeks of drying and their first heat straightening. Out of 21 shafts cut only 13 shafts are able to be used because the others have split in various places during drying. A slow process but fun..

I accidentally dropped this stave on its limb tip, causing a crack to run up the limb several inches. I wasn’t going to add tip overlays to this bow, I was going to use pin nocks. This crack has changed that plan. I flattened the backs of each limb tip and glued on a red oak overlay. The overlay was roughly shaped and is ready for string grooves.

The slow process of bowmaking. It's an art that can be applied to pretty much anything in life. There's a time to shape the wood, and then there's a time to read the wood to see the way. If it's rushed, too much wood can be removed in an important place, but if we're patient in life we can see the way. Nice little Osage board bow I finished a week ago... It's like 30lbs. @ 28".. not a very powerful bow but fun to shoot. It has a rawhide handle and I flipped the tips a bit with pin knocks...

I cut out and added muskrat string silencers to several bows yesterday. Slice, splice, twist and shoot!

Here is my first attempt at painting the rawhide of a pyramid bow. Not patterned or styled from a coastal tribe, but red/blue/green were popular. I just picked something simple and went with it.
