A recent commissioned art by @looceyloo from @socialpoison and myself, featuring his Traenor and my Zarunpel. I've been wanting an official look and reference for Zarunpel for a while, and the piece turned out amazing as both its own thing and as a first official art for her (well, full body).

If you're interested in Zarunpel in specific, a quick sheet for her just went up, I was surprised I didn't have one already. For Traenor, I'm sure @socialpoison will have something linked somewhere, possibly in a comment or reblog!

Sharing an old drawing of my half-troll knight fanwalker, Syr Traenor of Garenbrig! I also put in this drawing of his mentor, Syr Caitlin of Garenbrig (and Vantress and Locthwain). Traenor’s “cursed” such that his troll heritage is hidden under most circumstances, but when agitated, the magic falters and his form shows through (see fig. 3 feat. Squire Traenor)

What was your oc's like as a child? What was their childhood like? Do they think they had a good childhood?

Well, let's see! Klaus: Had a fairly good childhood, with loving parents, and a best friend who kept bullies off his back. He was pretty quiet and sensitive, so he spent a fair amount of reading. He probably loved to pretend he was a bigshot explorer of some kind. Andra: Never had a childhood! As an Aetherborn she was born at the prime of her life, and on Axin, Aetherborn are often born alone. The first few weeks she spent totally alone, before bumping into other Aetherborn. After those Aetherborn met up with some humans, she picked up her gender from them. Lys Ora: Grew up in Axin's Kor Armada, which traveled in giant tracked crawlers, mobile hangars for the fleets of vehicles they used to travel the wastes. Very busy childhood, every person in the armada is expected to pitch in and help out, but I think she did have a very genuine connection to her community through this, and she excelled. Vanya: Hd a fair childhood on Valla, where she felt like she was helping them battle the demon hordes in her own way. She'd proven herself numerous times, and if everything went right, she'd have been a valkyrie herself. Traenor: His parents did a good job, trying to make sure he had a normal childhood, and they took care of him on the farm. He did occasionally have moments where his troll appearance revealed itself which led to some awkward moments where he pretended that was his curse, but that DID lead to him meeting Syr Caitlin, and he doesn't think he can repay her enough for letting him be her squire.

New set mean new opportunities for character interactions! So I got to ask how would your ocs interact with the families of New Capenna? Would they throw down in a Riveteers boxing rings, party it up at a Cabaretti function? Or maybe they would get into trouble some other way in the city of angels run by devils?

Klaus, Andra, Avon, and Traenor all end up working together on New Capenna, along with my other OCs Lys and Vanya. Traenor was working to stop New Phyrexia, he bumped into Klaus and Andra, while Klaus was trying to get other planeswalkers to help him protect the Stormwreck Isles from invasion by the Sun Empire. Avon meets them on Kamigawa, while she's following leads on Tezzeret and the Infinite Consortium.

Andra spends most of her time trying to figure out New Capenna cars, doing a lot of work in Riveteer scrapheaps, chop shops, and garages, as she investigates the Caldaia, while also driving the team around town, likely enjoying the appearance of a stylish chauffeur outfit.

Klaus would be working with Avon, using his clairvoyance and her detective skills together to try and make contacts within the Obscura, both to try and figure out what's going on with the Adversary and the Crescendo, but also to try and dig up any former connections Tezzeret might have had on Capenna.

Traenor boxes a bit trying to make contacts within New Capenna's underground. His half-troll endurance lets him really go the distance. He earns himself the moniker "Pain Train"

Lys and Vanya are sent to New Capenna by the Order of Heliud to try and help control the situation, when they bump into the gang and try to help them out! Vanya starts out as a great Broker initiate and go-between, trying to ease friction between the families, with Lys forced to be her muscle, hiding her angelic nature so as not to draw attention, and forced not to enact violence or murder upon so many deserving villains. But after the Crescendo happens, and the streets get messy, Lys gets down to work. A little bit of Halo (temporarily) changes her wings and halo to look more like a Capennan angel, and she joins the fight of the angels trying to help them gain a foothold.

Recently I went around asking about your ocs childhoods so it’s only logical to now ask what you think your ocs will be like once they reach old age?

Klaus: I think Klaus would be pretty good-humored as a senior. He might feel like he doesn't need to be anywhere in particular, because his feet have done all the roving and wandering they've needed to, and all he needs now is a place to rest with people who love him. He'd like to think that all that going places and seeing things has maybe learned him a thing or two, and he'd love to share that with people. Or maybe just what he knows about the sea, and the stars, because people can always stand to learn about those things. Andra: In a way she's already there. She is now at least two years past her natural lifespan, but she has the body she had when she was in her prime. Give it a few more years, and she'll be the Aetherborn equivalent of the Bicentennial Man. I think she's really enjoying it, but part of her is sad that soon, there won't be a single Aetherborn from her homeplane who was alive to know her. Lys Ora: Would probably be really grumpy. Either her thirst for vengeance has never stopped, in which case she'll be a senior on your ass for every little thing, or it's burnt out and left her full of regret about things she can't take back, and things she hasn't done. Vanya: I think Vanya would take to age pretty gracefully, gentleness is in her nature, so having an excuse to do nothing but sit around, maybe make some tea, dispense nuggets of wisdom, that might agree with her temperament very much. Traenor: Senior Citizen Traenor...He'd probably take after Syr Caitlin, who was a knight well into her 70s and continue to kick it. Age never slowed his mentor, and he won't let it do it to him. He would have to reckon with maybe having less strength, the way Syr Caitlin did, but hey, maybe he could finally learn some more advanced magic like he'd always tried.
