[Storyboard 10] Final Storyboard
After so freaking long, I can finally post my final illustration for that Storyboard class… ε-(´∀`; )
I remember being so proud of it at the time, but looking at it now, it’s a bit poopy, sobs ( ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ )
For our final project, we had to make a 10 to 12 frame long storyboard of a person (or perople) crossing the street (and then maybe something happening as well, but I can’t remember if that was actually a part of the requirements or if its just my brain tacking on things), and considering the fact that that had been my favourite class in the entirety of my time as a student at that school, you can bet that I did my best to pull all the stops
( • ̀ω•́ )✧
When I was mulling over this assignment, I couldn’t help but think of how boring just plain old crossing is, so what if instead of that, I had characters running away from something but are stopped by a chasm in the middle of the street, forcing one to sacrifice themself to throw the other across? (⊙‿⊙)
This idea is how I immediately figured out what this final project was going to be obscure fanart of: The Life Series! (๑•̀ ᴗ•́)✧ (Which I think I’ve mentioned before in previous drawings I’ve done for school lmao)
I’m not gonna dive too deep into lore stuff (especially since I entirely used fanon lore for this), but to keep it simple, the mini story I had in mind for this is that each Life Game champion is imprisoned by the Watchers after their victory, but they eventually manage to escape with the storyboard following Grian (“Sun”) and Scott (“Star”) as they try and flee from a Watcher.
Since I needed to put the entirety of my efforts to actually making the storyboard, I didn’t really have the time to make my own original designs for Grian and Scott, so I had to use designs made by other people as the base for my own goobers.
Because of this, it’s only right to credit the artists whose designs I use, but I cannot for the life of me remember who drew the Scott design I used as a base for the one I used for this storyboard ;-;
I still have the drawing I used for his design saved on my computer, and the artist has their signature on it, but I can’t for the life of me read what it says ㅠ﹏ㅠ (though I do remember that the artist also drew Grian and Scar in the Skullgirls art style, if only I could find those drawings again aaaaaa!) But point is, their design was the main base for the one I used do Scott in the storyboard, all I did was add a ponytail, quiver, brace, not-stockings, and shoes.
For Grian, his design was mainly inspired by y0gurtfae on Insta and someone else’s design that I can’t remember, though I also added a lot of my own personal touches to it, such as the hood, scarf, and one of his wings being clipped and the other burnt (I was using the way SAD-ist drew Philza’s wings as reference, but I think it ended up looking oddly detailed compared to everything (◞‸◟,))
Originally, when I started out on this project, I was only going to make it 10 panels long since I knew fully rendering the storyboard was already a massive beast to tackle. But as I planned things out, I realized that I was going to have a very hard time fitting all the panels I wanted to include if I didn’t push my storyboard to 12 panels, and so I did :’DD
At some point, I was even contemplating pushing it to 14 frames so I could insert one in between panel eight and nine of Grian sailing through the air in front of the moon, and another one between eleven and twelve of a close-up of Grian’s horrified face. But considering the fact that my uni made it very clear that the limit is 12 (and also, I was really running out of time to work on this assignment), I didn’t end up doing that XDD
And yeah lol
I think that was everything I have to say about this drawing, there’s probably more notes that I’ve forgotten to mention, but I’m so tired that I can’t be bothered lol
I can finally be done with this ✧(..◜ᴗ◝..)
