Oooh, Duel Links Yami Bakura knows about the card (and presumably the person) Tragoedia! He was the main villain of the GX manga and had a similar role as Thief King Bakura did--he wasn’t in the village at the time it was attacked. He became a court astronomer, flipped out at learning what happened to his village, became a monster named Tragoedia from the malice in his heart, and was sealed away by Winged Kuriboh with the Feather of Ma’at and had his tablet destroyed.
But he lived on and started body-hopping in the present day after a team of archaeologists found him. He possessed a bunch of Jaden’s friends and successfully resurrected his own monster form with no other goals than that, but was weakened by Ma’at, a monster that has all 7 Millennium Items in her artwork, and sealed away by Winged Kuriboh and Light and Darkness Dragon combined.
I bet they’d be buddies.
I think the scene after Edo was losing against Yuushou on ARC-V was based on this scene from the GX manga. Edo was screaming a lot, shocked by the truth he does not want to acknowledge.
"YOU'RE LYING!! DON'T SAY ANY NONSENSE!! YOU MONSTER!!"
But, anyway, back to the manga, I do not know since when Tragoedia took over Mr. Phoenix body. But let's say Tragoedia is the one who take care of Edo for most of the time until the incident. Now, you know you were raised by a monster, and the ARC-V on also grew up under Professor's teaching. Knowing you raised by the possibly main villain, how can you stay sane?
But somehow I just like how Yu-Gi-Oh is super mean to Edo like this. Now, I kinda curious if Edo was still mentally healthy after this whole incident in the manga.
Tragoedia ———————————————— When you take battle damage: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. Gains 600 ATK/DEF for each card in your hand. Once per turn: You can send 1 monster from your hand to the GY, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls with the same Level the sent monster had in the hand; take control of that face-up monster. Once per turn: You can target 1 monster in your GY; this card's Level becomes the same as that target's, until the end of this turn. ———————————————— Can Be Found In: Turbo Pack: Booster Four (TU04-EN000), Gates of the Underworld Structure Deck (SDGU-EN016), Battle Pack: Epic Dawn (BP01-EN020), Emperor of Darkness Structure Deck (SR01-EN017), Structure Deck: Cyberse Link (SDCL-EN013), Shonen Jump Vol. 7 Issue 9 (JUMP-EN033)
In a card game with plenty of methods to clear the field and deal lethal damge, the simplest solution is to include effects activated from the hand to the Deck. This might have overshadowed Trap Cards over time and it can't be helped, as due the aggresiveness of the opponent to apply pressure makes hand effects the best answer due their immediate results and unpredactibility. Quickly becoming the staple cards for most Decks out there, there's a variety of effects activated from our hand to take a defensive approach in one way or another.
"Tragoedia" is a monster that gained a solid reputation since its debut many years ago thanks to its flexible roles during a Duel. Despite being a high Level creature, "Tragoedia" allows to summon itself from the hand as soon we take damage in a battle and provide one of its many effects. In most situations will be the ability to gain 600 ATK and DEF for each card in our hand, making "Tragoedia" either a small annoyance to a powerful monster to lead battles with. Our hand can also be used for its next effect, in which we can discard a monster from our hand to permanently take control of an opponent's monster sharing the same Level as the disposed card. Last but not least, "Tragoedia" can also manipulate its own Level by copying the stat from a monster in our Graveyard until the end turn. Overall, "Tragoedia" has a big assortment of abilities that goes from protecting us to preparing setups with its assitance, and depending of the build that is added will have either a main purpose arround or two of its effects to completely focusing on one of them.
With the ability to Special Summon itself once we take damage, "Tragoedia" doesn't require many options to prepare its own arrival. Is already quite lackluster when comes to adding it to our hand to time its summon for the best occasion, but that might be for the best so we hide its pressence in our Deck so the opponent cannot predict "Tragoedia" once in our hand. The summon of this monster will trigger once we take battle damage no matter the scenario, that can go from a monster battling a stronger enemy during any player's turn to taking a direct attack. While we could Tribute Summon it, is not recommended due the investment that might require wasting our hand and thus weakening "Tragoedia" stats. Additionaly we cannot summon several copies of "Tragoedia" together from our hand, bugt if we want to keep a defensive position that might be for the best.
The results "Tragoedia" provides to its user will highly vary depending of which abilities we focus on. Its Special Summon already makes it a solid tool to protect ourselves during the opponent's turn, no matter if brought with poor stats since can be played in Defense Position and block an attack with its defeat, or arrive with high stats to stop any further attacks. Depending of how many resources we spend from our hand the stats of "Tragoedia" will become more or less important, as conservative players can assure "Tragoedia" arrive with arround 2400 ATK and DEF in most circumstances. If we really want a strong "Tragoedia", cards like "Pot of Desires" and "Heart of the Underdog" can increase our hand to potentially turn this monster one of the strongest on the field. The ability to steal monsters on the other can become "Tragoedia" most situational ability as really depends of our hand and the opponent's field, but with Level 3 and 4 monsters being the most prominent in many Decks they'll become the easiest target to take away and use for one of our many goals. Finally, there's "Tragoedia" ability to change its own Level, becoming extremely helpful for Synchro and Xyz Summons to match its stats with the other materials.
"Tragoedia" is an extremely versatile monster with one or more tasks to provide its user, and that will depend of which Deck is added in. By default the Special Summon of "Tragoedia" makes it a helpful card to protect ourselves in the middle of the opponent's Battle Phase, and if survives or summoned in our turn its stat boosts and/or own Level manipulation will help us to strength our field. What is left behind is its stealing ability, as despite being powerful by making the target ours permanently there's a lot of variables to take account like the monsters on the opposite field and the fact that cannot target Xyz and Link Monsters. While "Tragoedia" might easily be taken down the same turn is summoned, still becomes a flexible creature if we manage one or two of its abilities wisely.
Personal Rating: A
+ Special Summons itself when we take damage in battle + Gains ATK and DEF for each card in our hand + Able to permanently steal and opponent's monster if we discard a monster with the same Level + Changes its own Level by targetting a monster in our Graveyard + Flexible roles and purposes
- Might be easily defeated before further uses and/or if brought with poor stats - Stealing effect will often become situational
Okay so I had an idea for Kisara.
Alright so I’ve mentioned before about headcanoning/what if idea of Kisara having also been a survivor of the Kul-Elna massacre.
Though unlike Bakura didn’t quite witness every single horrific detail. Managing to either hide until it was over or like escape the village without being caught and assuming here her parents didn’t just abandon her or something idk lived kind on the outskirts of the village (possibly even keeping her secret knowing how people may react to someone as different as her)
I admit it is a stretch - and really has no canon evidence for it other then the fact that Bakura- another person with no family, who is hated/fear (albiet for different reasons) and also has an almost god like Ka is from Kul-Elna. The only difference being his is was born/fueled from hate and anger, wanting to destroy.
Where as Kisara’s came from her kindness/love, desire to protect.

Anyway....back to the point.
It’s about her parents more specifically who her father could have been using an idea that was brought up in the manga, more specifically the GX manga.(Which was written by Takahashi so by all accounts is canon). Okay he didn’t write it but he did supervise the story so that’s gotta count for something. It clearly got his stamp of approval.
Now in the manga our main big bad a dark Ka that was sealed away long ago by Aknaden and the original priests that worked under him but here’s the interesting bit. The person whom this wicked Ka came from was an Astronomer who happened to work for the Pharoah and had discovered the truth of what had happened to Kul-Elna.
Now obviously anyone would be horrified/angry to learn what happened. The twist. He was actually from Kul-Elna
Not that he’s exactly innocent though as it turns out that he was only using his position to try and locate the burial gifts of passed Pharoah and send that information back to Kul-Elna obvs so they could rob the place (Still he’s gotta be pretty smart to have been able to get that position of Astronomer)
- honestly forgot about that part
Also this what the monster looks like-
Tragoedia
I mean even if the guy hadn’t been plotting to steal shit and was legitimately working for the Pharaoh like I could still easily believe this happening. It’s been over a year they haven’t heard anything from except whispered rumours of their village being not only destroyed but used in some kind of ritual sacrifice or something.
The idea I had was basically. What if that guy was her father. (Just cause she’s a good person doesn’t mean her parents were/have to be)
