LackWhi for a really good friend ❤️
I noticed this and think it is super funny
So, when Pokémon Adventures adapted the Black2 & White2 games, they created a character for the male protagonist (Nate) called Blake. His name is Lack-Two in the original Japanese translation, though it is implied (or stated?) to be a codename or alias he using while pursuing Team Plasma, and I really like that name, so I will be using that one. His character is a boy who grew up as an International Police, and was raised to be the perfect officer. He prioritizes upholding the law and peace above all else, is more than willing to put a few into harms way if it means protecting the majority, and lacks compassionate emotions and feelings. At least, that's what we are told. However, there are a few scenes throughout his short arc that tell us that Lack-Two is capable of genuine humanity, and I want to focus on something that kinda proves that, but isn't really the point.
Earlier on in the arc, we get more focus for the battles he has with his Dewott. It is his partner Pokémon and he uses it in every situation he can until the two are separated. He even has a good understanding of his Pokémon's personality, and holds a high amount of respect for it. He is shown giving respect to others in the arc, but due to their accomplishments and strength. His Dewott is the only character we are shown him holding respect for because of who they are.
Lack-Two has other Pokémon on his team, though he only nicknames half of them. However, the nicknames he picks are "Kabutott" for his Kabutops, and "Glisott" for his Gliscor. He takes his Pokémon's name, and adds the suffix -ott. He pulled the -ott from his Dewott's name, and threw it on the rest of his team. That's like naming your first born Olivia, and then naming the rest of your kids Johnvia, Adamvia, and Carolivia.
He names 3/6 of his Pokémon. There are not given reasons for why the rest of his Pokémon go unnicknamed, but I have my headcanons. He doesn't nickname the Genesect he took from Team Plasma because in the story he wasn't supposed to keep it with him. He took it from the International Police without their approval. He doesn't nickname his Escavalier because he got it in a trade, and back then you could not rename traded Pokémon. And why give Dewott a nickname when it's already perfect.
That's 5/6 Pokémon, but what about his last one? His final Pokemon is a Keldeo, which gets the name 'Kelden" (Look who made it into Kelden's debut under Lacky's trainership). A fine enough nickname, and, although I've been calling it his final Pokémon, Kelden was the third one he caught and the first one he nicknamed, so this was before a pattern was established.
However...
Apparently, in the original Japanese translation, he nicknames Kelden "Keldemaru." And, Dewott's Japanese name is "Futachimaru." So the plan was for half of his team to follow his Deowtt's lead. There's even a panel in the English release in which Keldesomething is incorrectly called "Kelott!"
Lack-Two is often (and probably correctly) viewed as a sociopath by fans. But he does care. There is love, empathy, and adoration in his heart. Just only enough for his Dewott. (Another win for my otter child)
Re-reading the b2w2 arc after 5+ years and omg the way i screamed at this panel
The way she didn't leave HIM. The way she made sure he was okay, despite how he made her feel a few chapters back (realizing he was only nice because he wanted to use her for his goal).
SHE MASSAGED HIM DESPITE NOT WANTING TO BE TOUCHED BY HIM BEFORE, JUST TO UNFREEZE HIS BODY.
Say what you will about how these two can be toxic to one another in canon. That Lack-Two is a menace and should not deserve Whi-Two in any way (and don't worry, I agree)...
But this. This just takes the cake for me, and I think this is why I ship these two despite Kusaka's open defiance to give us a proper plot between them. Whi-Two is supposed to be the "criminal" here while Lack-Two is the "enforcer" (of the law), yet somehow, time and time again, Whi-Two shows that her ideals and values are what's supposed to be strived for because it results in people actually being saved. Lack-Two on the other hand, walks with this blind ideal of holding up what's systemically correct—something he only LEARNED thru lessons and not necessarily through experience, and, more often than not, he ends up causing harm (either to Genesect or the people around him) trying to uphold these ideals.
I just wished these two ended up working together more, with Lack-Two's flawed ethical standards slowly being questioned and destroyed from the ground up the more he stands next to Whi-Two. I've seen pokespe do it time and time again, so why couldn't it have been done for this arc.
B2W2 breaks my heart tbh. It had the capacity to be one of the best, with all these parts being set up to move, and these thematic dilemmas being laid out. But at least we have scenes like these that people like me can deep read like a mad man. The canon Lack-Two and Whi-Two relationship is not necessarily the best (especially if stood against the agencyshipping of it all), but gems like these are what make it really worth exploring. At least for me.

Because I don't like the BW arc, I'm not putting Black and White in there. Plus I'm running out of space on my island.
Whitley's buns do not work on a sideview unfortunately, but it's the best I had.
Originally Lack had a smile, and I knew I made him so well because I had the urge to punch his face. I had to make him neutral faced to remove that urge.
Welcome. I'm Black No.2, a- Former! -member of the International Police. At the moment I am... compromised. So, I am laying low, and as ordered, "enjoying my childhood." I was instructed to create this... "blog" as it may aid in my mission, via gathering data, securing leads, or.. simply being "fun." That's all there is to know from me.
..Hello, everybody! It's Blue! Didn't expect to see me here, did ya? Well.. I took this sweet little guy in not too long ago! Don't you worry, I made sure it was legal.. after a little bit, teehee! Anyways.. warmest welcomes to you all! Please try to keep him out of trouble, will ya?
Hey, I'm here now. Might aswell just add myself here, since I don't plan on leaving, and have access to this blog. I'm permanent now. Get over it.

Sorcerers Lack-Two n Ruby 4 the funsies, they're besties
THIS IS A TRANSGIRL RUBY POST!!! DO NOT TAG AS GENDERBENT
For our newest specord event called "Fairytales and Folklore", I drew a piece for Lack-Two based on the Scottish folklore of the water kelpie.
In the past days of Crown Tundra, there lived an Alpha Keldeo that people called the water kelpie. It was known to lure children on its back on the shores of lakes. But once the children touched it, their hand would get stuck and Keldeo would dive deep underwater, and the children were never to be seen again. A young lad named Lack-Two has found himself being dragged down to depths... But maybe he can still make it, who knows?
Poor Whitley :(
