One thing I keep thinking about is how being conventionally attractive is something you DON'T want to be in the Circle.
Same with being timid.
Anyway, what percentage of tranquils are both pretty and timid? 🙃

The thing is that the only logical explanation I can find for the tranquils fate in dai, where most had been hunted down by venatori, is that originally they all escaped with the mages but then were abandoned (or just the mages died you know). Because if they didn't escape with the mages, most of them would had been still used by the chantry for free labor and enchantments.
Vivienne says when she finds about the oculara reveal that she hoped they were safe with the rebel mages, so they weren't with the loyalists. Minaeve talks about how she was with a tranquil and then Cassandra found them (so again tranquil escaping with a mage), clemence and others where with the rebels in Redcliffe, so like it looks like A LOT of them originally did escape with the rebel mages. And they talked like it was a "oh where are those guys now" situation.
And like, if Cassandra in canon sees some lost mage and tranquil and it's like "yeah come join the inquisition" then she would had got the kirkwall ones alive when she recruited Cullen? And if she didn't got that many is either cause most were all dead already or they did manage to escape (more likely most of them were dead already,,,,)
Hm so how much do you all think was gereon alexius responsible for what happened to the tranquils? Did he knew what was necessary to produce those oculara? Does that revelation ever factor into his judgement?
Because I feel this is a throw away line in the game. Like, the game states how mean the mages are because they abandon their tranquil colleagues but in reality, nobody, not even the game, cares about the tranquil.

Inktober day two, Tranquil

So I have this dragon age OC Arinth. He’s an apostate elf that Cullen made his Mage-Captain and he runs a keep (either out of an abandoned Circle or Caer Oswin) He has no brain mouth filter, has a thing for warriors, and has a soft spot for Tranquil. Cullen found him running a commune of Mages, Tranquil, and even a few Templars who didn’t want anything to do with the mage rebellion and thought he had potential. He is not at all qualified to run any armies, but makes up for it with an unexpected wisdom, an ability to read situations well, and a genuine desire to protect people. I have a google doc with a bunch of dialogue from him if anyone is interested in checking it out. This description does not do his personality justice at all and I think he might be worth a look.
i would assume that if we had to choose whether our hypothetical companion stays tranquil or not we'd first get stories about how awful they were as a mage and that they killed ppl and like BLOOD MAGIC EVERYWHERE or smth and then they'd be like 'ok yeah i did that but listen i'm better now i've changed' and u have to choose whether to trust them on that? and maybe the outcome of their tranquility being lifted would depend on how you've been treating them based on approval and all that?? idk
ahh, so just like how you harden leliana in dai and whatnot.
all the same, there wouldn’t be a huge penalty about whatever you did bc the tranquil would still be your companion. i feel like them having to leave your party forever but being their whole self again would have more of a penalty.
on the one hand you get to keep your kinda monotone bro but on the other hand you get to let them go be free, and then if there are hardening personal quests then they could be good or bad and perhaps even play a small role in the events leading towards the final battle.
