i've always hc'd bart as trans! he runs with his binder like A Fool

Yes!!! omg okay so me and @polywallywest were actually talking about this the other day!

okay so bart can most likely push himself further than a normal person could while binding, but keeping up with barry and wally’s speed while binding? would definitly do damage like he’d probably recover from it quickly as well but there has to be bad effects of repeatedly getting hurt and healing like that.

he wouldnt really tell anyone about the pain at first because, he kind of has this mindset that as long as nobody notices its not a big deal right? and since nobody says anything about it at first he doesnt bring it up either.

so in the end it comes down to either his speed or his comfort and they cant really coexist.

trans!bart headcanons

He has a relatively small chest so he can usually get away with wearing a baggy shirt and nothing underneath and still look flat. So that’s usually what he wears at home/when he’s been wearing the binder to much and needs to heal or when he’s just hanging out with Tim, Kon and Cassie (because he’s really comfortable around them.) 

Wally gave him a bunch of shirts he’s grown out of and Bart wears them all the time. they’re all at least slightly too big but Bart loves them, because they’re big and cozy, a little worn out and also they are boy shirts.

He goes through phases of wearing his binder too much and not wearing it at all. Whenever he takes a break after wearing it for too long he sometimes forgets to put it on.

He runs in his binder, the biggest reason he needs to take breaks from it every once in a while. He can push himself further than a normal human while wearing it but keeping up with Barry and Wally’s speed while binding does a lot of damage. He recovers from it quickly as well but repeatingly getting hurt and healing that way has bad effects for sure. (more about this on this post)
