Destiel is, among so many other things, about them seeing the best and the worst in each other and understanding each other fully and completely and accepting and loving each other fully and completely. And I think that's how being loved as a trans person feels. Like we can't be loved unless we're understood.

Thinking about 'Human AU all angels are siblings' again. Like. Chuck comes home for the first time in years. He uses 'she' pronouns for Castiel and gets corrected to 'he'. Confused, he asks Michael, who just goes 'You seem to be misremembering, father - Castiel has always been a boy' and Chuck just goes 'Huh I really thought he was a girl but I don't know enough about my children to dispute this'.

They do this with every trans kid - Michael always sweats profusely in those moments, but he can't exactly tell his father that he's been faking his signature for years to sign applications for name/gender marker changes (as well as all other official documents anyone needs).

A fic rec for you if you haven't read it/posted about it already: Traveling Light by sharkfish (on ao3), featuring trans Cas, and now with timestamp!

Oh man I absolutely LOVE Traveling Light! @reallyelegantsharkfish is such a fantastic writer. I think I left her many key smash chapter reviews and much emotional vomit while reading that. I will admit that I haven’t read the time stamp yet but I’m excited to do so.

Anyone that hasn’t read this fic yet you should definitely check it out. It’s one of my favs.
