I’m love my Hawke
They/Them
Sometimes I think about the story behind Carver Hawke’s name and how Malcolm was apparently so grateful to this templar that he named his (potentially) second-born son after him, which makes me wonder just how set Leandra was on naming the first son Garrett (or [playername]) that she managed to trump “templar who helped me to escape and allowed us to be together.”
Or maybe trans!Garrett picked out his name after Carver and Bethany were born. Sounds about right.
(Also the amazing coincidence that Carver turns out to be the non-mage; like seriously, imagine a mage!Carver finding out that he was named after a templar)
So I have this headcannon. It just kind of evolved over time.
Hawke is Trans. Or my Hawke specifically is Trans. Mara Hawke. It started from the fact everyone keeps calling her “monsieur” for some reason.
I like the idea of Mara moving to a new city where no one knew who she was before. That her mother and siblings simply go with it. I like that she gets to be herself for the first time.
I imagine that at some point or another a conversation happens with each of her friends. Maybe there is a ‘Me too!’ or a ‘thank you for trusting me with this Hawke’. I know she doesn’t need to tell anyone but I play Hawke Blue so that likely is something she just would tell them. We’re friends. We’ve gone through hell and back and I want you to know because it’s part of who i am and I love you.
And this works for me. It works really nicely with the narrative imo. It’s my headcannon and I like it.
So I got a new laptop recently. That means I can try and be productive and start writing again. I've been thinking lately that I should really work on that Dragon Age 2 fanfic I started way back and maybe it'll help vent my own feelings about crap. Idk yet if I'll ever post it online or if I'll just keep it to myself. I'm really, really awful at finishing things so idk if posting chapters will motivate me to finish it or not. I don't wanna post it and get people's hopes up and then never finish it. I've never properly written a fanfic before but maybe it's time to force myself to commit to a project. Buuuut, I also start uni next week so I'm not sure if I'll even have time for writing between work and uni. I hope I will. It's modern / sort-of-hipster / mmorpg / long distance relationship transguy!Hawke x transguy!Fenris with maybe past Hawke x Anders. I understand a lot of people are uncomfortable with how Anders is treated in fics that focus on Fenris (and honestly, I am too) so I'll be careful. I love Anders to death but I identify with Fenris. The fic will probs be real angsty though but there'll be a happy ending. Unless, of course the fic gets out of control. I have a plan but it's mostly as I go. Idk, I guess I just wanna know if anyone would be interested if I DID end up deciding to make it public.
Now I want to write about my Hawke in an advisor to the inquisition AU
or even just Hawke chilling in Skyhold before the events in the Fade her and Krem being bros and scaring away transphobic assholes with their very sharp daggers and very heavy mauls [respectively]
Her teasing the shit out of Cullen over the war table
Her and Varric sitting in the main hall people watching and just shittalking or having really loud boisterous conversations that they eventually get everyone in on
Hawke and my Inquisitor sharing war stories and also gushing over their sexually active pirate/piratey looking lovers
Hawke being totally on board Iron Bull’s idea of throwing her over a line of enemies if she ever joined them out in the field
fucking Hawke
I'm here to make all your favorite characters trans, and I'm not apologizing.
