Hi! This is the same anon that sent the trans Reid headcannon request, and I would like it if it was Reid transitioning into a female.

Here you go, I hope you like this!

Reid definitely is extremely nervous about coming out to the team

At first she doesn’t tell them and tries to hide that she feels extremely uncomfortable everytime someone refers to her as he/him

However she can’t surpress a tiny flinch every time this happens and at some point the team notices this

Hotch is the first person to call her out but Reid keeps lying, saying everything is fine

But she knows that she has to tell them at some point

So one day as they all (except for Hotch) have dinner at Rossi‘s she decides to tell them

Hotch isn’t there since Jessica doesn’t have time to watch Jack, but Reid isn’t really mad about that because he rather wants to tell him in private

While at dinner they keep referring to her as he/him and at some point Reid just stutters a quite „actually... uhm... I would rather go by she/her“

Everything goes silent for a second till Garcia jumps up from her seat running over to her and hugging her tight while saying really excited „I knew it! I’ll make sure your pronounce on your ID will be changed and we all need to go shopping and...“ she will keep rambling like this for a bit

After that each one of them will hug her, tell her how proud they are of her for coming out to them and they tell her that they will always love and support her

While that went really well she still has the hardest part in front of her... she has to tell Hotch

Reid didn’t think that he is transphobic or anything but his opinion just matters a lot to her

She tells him at work, in his office and she is literally shaking from nervousness

Hotch senses that something is going on and assures her that she can tell him everything but doesn’t press further

They are both silent for a while until Reid starts talking, telling him that she feels uncomfortable in her body and with her pronounce and that she rather would be called she/her

Hotch does not say anything at first, he just gets up from his seat and pulls Reid into a tight hug

Reid stiffens for a moment before she relaxes into his hold

After a few seconds Hotch pulls away but keeps one hand on her shoulder while pulling up her chin to make sure she looks him in the eyes with his other hand

He tells her how happy he is that she feels comfortable enough to come out to him and how proud he is of her as well as that he will always support her no matter what because he cares about her

At that tears start streaming down Reid’s face and Hotch just pulls her back into another hug

That evening she sleeps better than in a long time, knowing her team loves and supports her no matter what happens

i see reid as 100% not cis. whether he be agender, bigender, genderfluid, trans girl (my personal fave of course), trans boy, or anything else, he’s n o t  c i s and it’s always been that way for him. it’s canon that growing up his mother always supported him, even through her illness. i think @gubestiel wrote in their nb!Reid fic where diana would get confused and buy “girl” clothes for reid on days when she wasn’t very lucid, and he would wear them regardless. knowin firsthand how mental illness really distorts your reality and how you see others (literally physically see them) i think that’s 100% possible to have happened in canon. gender non-conforming kids usually have high IQ’s as well, so that makes sense to me. growing up spencer was really exposed to a lot of things kids usually never are. he went to college at TWELVE. he was really open to the experiences of others and learned so many things at such a young age that i think it really over-all shaped him, including his gender? he’s seen so much diversity in his short life and that’s such an eye-opening experience for someone so young. im not gonna point at instances in the show and scream “NOT CIS” because i feel like that could feel almost invalidating to some, but pretty much every time i see him on screen i get me one of those moments lmao. but whatever reid is trans to me and my little trans heart and i love him
