When Coran lands on earth they are astounded by all the misgenderings of not only Coran but their team as well

So Coran is fairly young- mid 40’s ish
And Allura is the equivalent of an Altean 20 year old
Coran has an eccentric sense of humor

Neither Coran trusts the other
The paladins aren’t used to seeing Coran being unfriendly
