At the person going through my Trans Guy Sid tag- I’ve started working on it again, but it’s nowhere near finished. ❤️

Would you consider writing more trans guy sid? I'd like to see him interact with the pens!!

Trans Guy Sid is still v much a work in progress, and probably won’t be finished until way after I graduate in December, BUT here is a snippet. 

For context- Sid, Geno and Nealer hanging out at some bar. At this point in the timeline Sid is practicing with the Pens on a pretty regular basis, though he has not been offered a contract. 

TW for casual cissexismm, transmisogyny, homophobia, etc.

“She was flirting with you.” Nealer says, sounding shocked.  

“I know” Sid says. She hadn’t exactly been subtle about it, tugging the v neck of her shirt down to show off her (admittedly impressive) cleavage.

“You turned her down.”  Nealer says, swaying forward so he’s leaning over the table and peering right in Sid’s face.

“I did” Sidney says. He can smell the beer on Nealer’s breath so he adds. “You should drink some water.”

“Why?” Nealer demands.

“Your hangover will be worse if you’re dehydrated-”

“Not that.” Nealer says derisively, slapping his hand on the sticky table.

Sidney must look as confused as he feels, because Geno snorts out a laugh and thumps Nealer on the back.

“He wants know why you turned her down.” Geno attempts to nod wisely, though the effect is ruined because he mostly looks drunk and sleepy.

“Because I wanted to?” Sidney says.

“She was hot.” Nealer says. “So hot- did you see her tits-”

“She yanked her collar down far enough for me to see what color bra she’s wearing.” Sidney says. “So yeah, I saw them.”

“And you turned her down!” Nealer repeats, smacking his hand stickily on the table again.

“Yes?” Sidney says, slapping the table too. “I turn girls down all the time.”

“Why?” Nealer sounds a little anguished. “She was so hot man- she wanted all up on your dick or- uh- fuck- your uh-”

Geno’s laughter gets louder. Nealer looks horrified with himself, floundering in the way cis people do when they’ve fucked up, but don’t know how to fix it.

“My clit?” Sidney offers, and Nealer’s face gets red and blotchy.

“Uh- yeah. That. Your clit.” Nealer splutters.

“I’m think Sid not like girls.” Geno tells Nealer with a conspiratorial stage whisper.

“I wouldn’t say that,” Sidney says “I like girls fine, I just don’t usually want to sleep with them.”

“You like but not want to fuck?” Geno, like that was the most ridiculous thing he’d ever heard. “Girls are best.”

“Yeah” Sidney agrees, because Geno is definitely Not Wrong in that regard. “I generally sleep with guys more though.

“You’re gay?” Nealer hisses in shock.

“I- did you think I was straight?” Sidney asks. “Why?”

“You don’t look gay!” Nealer snaps defensively.

“What does a gay look like, exactly?” Sidney demands.

“Shut up Lazy” Geno says, before sounding genuinely curious. “Sid- you know girls best but still sleep with men? Why?”

“Honestly I wonder that myself sometimes.” Sidney rolls his eyes and seriously considers sending Lou an emergency ‘pls rescue me from this str8 bar’ text.

“You just like dick.” Nealer says.

“Lazy!” Geno gives Nealer a dead arm. “You just had be reminded that men have clits.”

“Not all men have dicks, and not everyone with a dick is a man.” Sid says in a bored tone, fucking exhausted all of a sudden.  

“Apologize.” Geno tells Nealer firmly. “You never listen, Sid have to explain so many times.”

“He had to tell you twice last week!” Nealer says.

“And so I’m start listening!” Geno says.

Sidney jerks in surprise, and for a moment feels like he’s going to cry. His face and neck are hot. He wonders what it means, that Geno putting forth basic effort to be respectful makes him that emotional.

“Sorry.” Nealer says sourly, picking at the label of his beer bottle.

“Worst Canadian, suck at apology.” Geno admonishes.

“Sorry.” Nealer says again, looking Sidney in the eye this time.

“Thanks.” Sidney says in a numb voice. “Don’t do it again please.”

Nealer still looks sulky but he nods.

“Go get us water.” Geno says, before starting to shove Nealer out of the booth. 

Sidney takes a sip of his beer. His hands are shaking. He doesn’t know when that happened.

“Sorry too,” Geno says, once Nealer has gone to wait at the bar. “We try do better.”

“Good.” Sidney says, clears his throat. “That’s uh- that’s good.”

Geno nods, looking determined. “We be best.”

Sidney looks down at his phone, and decides abruptly to wait (just a little, just a bit) on sending Lou that text.

And everyone is just like “Yes it’s... lovely.”

At first it just kinda looks like Sid maybe has charcoal smeared on his face or something, but it eventually winds up growing into a decent amount of scruff.

If Trans Guy Sid had time for something that wasn’t working or hockey, would he still be into WW2 history? Uh, like IRL Sid.

Oh yeah, absolutely. Sid’s undergrad in this verse is in World History, and his focuses are the social, economic, and political events that lead up to WWI and WWII. 

One day, Sidney also wants to write some long winded blathery book about any correlation b/w ~homosexual behavior~ and being enlisted in the military. Mostly he writes it on his days off when he’s kinda drunk. It’s a mess and needs a huge amount of editing, but Sid’s TOTALLY gonna finish it one day. 

He’s also especially interested in the evolution of military tactics and weaponry, because in the turn of the 20th century technological changes completely revolutionized modern warfare. 

Unfortunately, the world being what it is, Sid won’t really be able to get a job in his field until he’s got like a fucking PhD, so mostly he nerds out and gets vicious in his critique of Ancient Aliens. 

Also most of his higher education in history has been pretty eurocentric, which really bothers him, so in his spare time he tries to educate himself on the histories of other countries.

writing meme: 4 and 8!!

What are some themes you love writing about?

I am like, a sucker for bullshit ridiculous miscommunication, cliche romance novel tropes, trans stuff, and like honestly one of these days I wanna write some outrageous action fic where everyone gets the shit beat out of them. 

Is there a character you love writing for the most? The least? Why?

Lately I’ve been really into writing Steve Downie, because he’s not the focus of a lot of media, and that leaves a lot of room for some rpf character interpretation. I’m like, 90% sure that my rpf characterization isn’t like the rl Downie at all, but whatever, there’s a reason this is fiction lmao. He’s kinda soft spoken and seems a little shy, and then he goes and leads the league in penalty minutes, and is generally kind of a jackass on ice, and that’s really interesting for me to explore. 

I think Sid is probably the easiest for me to write? Because I identify a lot w/ his rituals and superstitions and shit, and he’s very clearly a somewhat Generic Boring Dude who watches history documentaries and likes making crepes and also probably day dreams about a white picket fence and a spouse and 2.5 children and a brutally ugly rottweiler.

I think Geno might be the trickiest for me to write, because he’s Russian and while I’ve probably got more knowledge about Russian culture than the average American, there’s still a bit of a gap of understanding I guess? Like I know I talked about this a bit earlier, but Canada is close enough to America that I can write that fairly confidently. I really enjoy writing from his pov though, because then I can try and use my Russian and shit. 

Also in I fucking love writing from Lou’s pov. Lou’s a gem, and they’re fun to write because they’re very compassionate but also stubborn as shit and will fight a fucker if they want/need to. 

Also Tyler, because he’s a fratty disaster.

I’ve decided to work on Trans Guy Sid for the Big Bang, instead of the soul bond idea I had, because I have more plot and stuff for it. 

So, there will be no more updates on here, however you can call look forward to the completed fic coming sometime soon-ish!

Two questions: 1, what's the progress on trans guy sid looking like? 2, what inspired you to write it?

It’s going slowly but surely! I’m in a bit of a tricky spot rn, which is why I’m asking for prompts so often, so I’m at least writing something, even if it’s not TGS. 

And I really don’t know? I feel like I was probably talking about like, gender and hockey, and I was like “I WANNA STORY ABT SID BEING TRANS AS FUCK” and lo and behold, I started to write it. 

I hope to have a new part up soonish!
