Watching @ajsbau post abt transmasc Reid is inspiring me to post abt transmasc Hotch so blame them for this:
-He actually got his top surgery to celebrate getting tranferred to Quantico. It was something he had been working towards for a long time and he was like "yknow lets use the last of my seattle FBI insurance to finally cut my tits off" and then he did and that was iconic of him
-He sometimes gets dysphoria from the fact that his chest is genuinely just so goddamn muscular and the weight is a little too similar sometimes
-A lawyer friend who knew him pre-transition will randomly text him "thinking abt the fact that you had double Ds and got rid of them. What the fuck." To which Hotch always responds, without fail, "did you want them for yourself?"
-After he figured out Reid struggled so hard with addiction, he switched from injection hormones to The Goop (testosterone gel) to avoid dropping a needle or something similar and accidentally triggering the poor guy
-He does not tell people he's trans. He prefers it when people assume he's a cis guy. Ninety percent of this is because it makes him feel less dysphoric if people can't immediately clock it. Ten percent if fucking with people by making really vague comments about not having a dick
-We talkin about Bottom Surgery and Dicks in this point, u have been warned. I do think his bottom surgery was a sticking point in his marriage to Haley, actually. I love haley, but bless her heart, we see a lot that she doesn't always entirely understand Hotch's thought process. And Hotch is never usually keen to share. Aaron just wanted the metoidioplasty, but Haley could not understand why he didn't want a phalloplasty when they had the money for it (he didn't want to either have less sensation or have a visible forearm scar for the sake of a couple inches)
-He just straight up doesn't talk about his top surgery scars when people see them, leading to a frightening amount of people assuming they're stab wounds
