Dark Cacao Cookie
while dark cacao cookie is on the more stoic side, there are certain things that never fail to shake him to his core — his loved ones being hurt in any way is the most obvious example of this
and the second he saw the state you were left in his expression absolutely crumbled — going from stern and serious to a mix of horrified and unsure and guilty before he finally regained his composure and shooed everyone else out of the room so he could take you somewhere private to check you over and talk
once you’re alone his first priority is tending to your injuries and making sure that there’s nothing wrong internally that might cause more severe issues down the line — which also serves as a bit of a reprieve to let you calm down and gather your thoughts, with him only speaking up to ask you if something hurts or to try moving something for him so he can check for any hidden damage
and then once he’s satisfied with his work — and sure that you don’t need to be immediately taken to the healers — he lowers/raises himself until he’s at your eye-level and very sternly asks you what happened
he won’t take any dismissive excuses either — so don’t try blaming an awkward bit of pavement or a stray door handle for your current state
he’s not violent, he won’t hurt anyone, he just wants to make sure that whoever did this to you is brought to justice — both for your sake and so they don’t hurt anyone else

and he’s patient, incredibly so, and more than willing to give you the time you need to speak up — offering you whatever you need in the meantime to make the healing and processing experience as easy as it can possibly be

anything you want, anything you need, is yours if only you say the word — because you’ve been through enough and your dear boyfriend just wants to make you happy again
and if/when you feel comfortable enough to recall what happened to you
if/when you feel comfortable enough to open up about how it all impacted you
he’ll be there to listen to everything you have to say
to affirm you, to listen to you, to understand you, to stand by and support you — and to meet you half way in those moments where it’s all a bit too much
when your dysphoria and insecurity and self doubt, flared up by what happened, pop out and leave you spiralling
when your recovery plateaues or slides back
when you lash out from frustration and are then are left drowning in guilt
dark cacao stays through it all, strong as ever, and does everything he can do to be present and available for you — because you’re his future husband, and he’ll be damned if he lets anyone hurt you ever again
and you can guarentee that the people who hurt you got precisely what they deserved — nothing more and nothing less
because no matter how tempting it may have been to go lower and hurt more, he is still a king and a king has to lead by example

pitaya dragon cookie’s immediate response upon seeing you injured can only be described as white hot fury
someone hurt their mate, someone caused you pain, and they weren’t there to protect you
they feel like they failed you
and that makes them so unbelievably angry that all they can think of is revenge — is making the guilty parties pay in blood, is making them face the true wrath and power of the green and red dragon of legend
but they refrain
(for now)
because it’s clear to them — even as emotionally stunted as they may be — that revenge isn’t what you need right now. that comfort and assurance is the most pressing need of yours in this moment
and, too stubborn and prideful to risk failing you again, pitaya dragon cookie puts their all into doing just that
… though they are terribly awkward at actually offering any real comfort
when you recount what happened to you, shaking and tearful, they hold you close — their grip tight almost enough to force the air from your lungs and yet grounding at the same time
when you spiral into self doubt and dysphoric insecurity they silence you with a voice so stern and low, more hiss or growl than anything else, that you’re left shaken and unable to even think of a retort
they clean and wrap your injuries with a tenderness you’ve never seen from them before, and you swear that you can feel their hands shaking as they hold you, but they don’t bring it up — hiding their own worries behind a stern scowl and a rant about how they’ll never let you out of their sight again
if you ask them about something specific your attackers pointed out and whether what they said holds any ground in reality — be that related to your identity or otherwise — pitaya dragon cookie is quick to glare at you and scold you for taking into account the words of pathetic meaningless fools
(what they really mean is a very firm ‘obviously not’ but they leave that part for you to figure out)
and when all is said and done, and you’re all patched up, they’ll pick you up like you’re lighter than air and carry you back to their nest — planting you firmly on their chest and wrapping their arms and wings around you to keep you as close to them as possible
and if you start weeping they won’t mention it or judge you for it, but they will tighten their grip on you that little bit more until you fall asleep
tomorrow they’ll deal with the people that hurt you; until then they’ll stay right here where they know they can keep you safe
