Its well known amongst the trans community that the names we choose for ourselves vary in levels of seriousness and normalcy. Sometimes its a fairly normal name with a very deep/personal meaning, sometimes its microwave onomatopia. Me personally i rolled a "50s housewife name generator" and when i saw "phoibe" i cried for like half an hour. Not sure where that puts me on the serious-silly and deep-surfacelevel spectrums, but
I have a question cos I’m having a name crisis. Idk if any of y’all know or have seen name and pronoun stuff change in bio but I’m trans and I’m torn between two names so I wanna get some of u wonderful peeps’ input.
Zach (short for Zachary) or River?

My general advice:
When you’re picking a new name it can seem like a really pick task. But here’s something you should remember, you don’t have to find it on the first try. I also think a lot of people choose their name if it has some meaning like a family name or even after your favorite character! Doing some research on what the name you like means can often help find the right one. Some people also ask their parents what they would have been named if they had been born a boy, or ask their family and friends to pick a name for them. But don’t worry, you can also just look through a list of names and go “hey this one sounds cool I like it” and go with that. Whatever you want, it’s your choice just do what makes you happy. And remember you can change it as much as you want till you find one that fits!
I wish I had another me to talk to cause I feel like im so much more pragmatic with other people's problems ;>
(The naming myself struggles is realllll)
No, his name hadn't been Joan or Jane or anything like that. It had been Mary. He wanted a perfectly ordinary name to replace his perfectly ordinary name, so he chose John. + "Our names used to rhyme. People liked that. Twins, you know? They thought it was cute. 'Harry and Mary.' I was the one everyone thought was a tomboy back then. He was - not girly, but … quiet." + How does subtle exposition workkkkkk
I Need a New Name.
Emily does not sound right to me anymore, and I have no idea why. Nevertheless, I need something to replace it. Any suggestions?
