Ilia was probably the first person he told, since everyone knew she liked him. And ilia is shocked at first, but then nods and accepts the fidgeting hero as he is. Which is why link fights so hard to save her. His first true friend and alley. Which is probably why it hurts him so badly when she loses her memories and thinks he's just another guy helping cause she's cute.

I kinda think Colin is also a girl, which is why S/he looks up to link so much, because s/he? wants to be just like him and that's why link is so protective of him? because they're almost exactly alike. The other kids know about link, but he's older so they accept it, but Colin is so young and they tease him so big brother link always steps in.
