Trans2010's tips

some tips for trans2010's in specific, as a lot of this is digital things! can 100% be used for other transyears, probs already known stuff but hope this helps some1 :)

-watching content from your transtime can be super validating! on youtube you can add "before:year" to find content that would've existed at the time

-adding on to the previous tip, making a pinterest board of things from your transtime can help. to do this you'll have to be using google, but you can simply search whatever you'd like with this template ; site:pinterest.com "search" before:year (this can be used for other sites aswell!)

-It can be really helpful looking on socials for things like "growing up in [year]", "[year] childhood", or simply your year. This'll help find people talking about their experiences, things that were popular, style things, etc from someone that was alive in that year!

Living life like it's the 1940s or

TransYear / TransDecade / PermaDecade Euphoria Tips (1940s Edition)

Dress the part. Suits, dress shirts and pants, ties, sweater vests, or for the more feminine aligned: blouses and long skirts, square shouldered coats and jackets, and shirtwaist dresses. Gather and save images of the fashion of the time or create a pinterest board and slowly but surely replace your current wardrobe with those timely pieces. Further reading.

Consume the media. Watching films, listening to archived radio shows, music, as well as reading books and newspapers from then will help with immersing and familiarizing yourself with the times. Research the popular movies, shows, and books from then as a start. Borrow books from the local library or use the Project Gutenberg website to download ebooks for free.

Adjust your speech and mannerisms. For starters, people spoke more formally and used proper grammar. The Trans/Mid-Atlantic accent was also a sign of the times (there are tutorial videos on youtube). Refer back to the media from then to get an idea of how people spoke and carried themselves. Manners and etiquette were important as well, so be cordial and polite, practice good posture, and act gentlemanly and graceful.

Surround yourself with the items and tech that was popular then. Radios, record players, rotary dial and desk phones were common household items. Even if you can't use some of these items (the telephone for example) having it around can help you feel more connected to the times. Further reading.

Implement new hobbies and recreational activities. People enjoyed going to their local theaters, playing card and board games, doing crosswords, reading books, newspapers and magazines, listening to radio shows, and going out to drink and or dance just to name a few.
