jon must have been noticeably younger than robb if ned felt the need to claim he was born during his marriage to catelyn. like surely if he was almost the same age or older he could have just said he fathered him before marriage? though i suppose maybe adding the cheating angle made it easier for him to shut up questions. but jon couldnât have been obviously older than robb which means rhaegar fathered him around the time of nedcatâs marriage or after. but it canât have been too long after or jon wouldâve been born too premature to survive⊠so thereâs actually a really tight window for jonâs conception (because how are you going to claim a one-year-old is only six months old especially when robb is right there as an obvious point of comparison). itâs impossible for him to have been conceived in dorne? so ashara truthers either know more about her whereabouts throughout the war than we do or they know far less about nedâs whereabouts than we do:
but as far as wylla⊠i guess if she was just some random dornish woman who later became a dayne wet nurse, no one would necessarily know where she was and what she was doing during the rebellion? but iâve also always questioned that catelyn line about jonâs wet nurse being at winterfell. why is grrm specifying the presence of jonâs wet nurse at winterfell during this discussion of his motherâs identity? was that wylla? is that part of the reason ned doesnât tell catelyn the wylla lie? because wylla is literally there and he doesnât want to make the situation even worse for the two women? if wylla literally was jonâs wet nurse it would explain why ned dayne is so certain about being jonâs milk brother. wylla would have spent a significant amount of time with baby jon and probably talked about him later at starfall.
@transdimensional-void yeah, itâs why the fishermanâs daughter story is sus, jon would have been seven months older than robbers & if jon was there with like, a near two old year whole robb is like 8 months, thatâs noticeable. so if nedâs story is that he slept with some random dornish woman who lived in the riverlands, brought her back until jon was old enough to be weaned, and then she just went back to dorne? đ like it makes sense if wylla was like âoh my baby who lives in winterfellâ or whatever, right, but the behavior from ned is like. slightly evil towards catelyn đ straight up jonâs âmotherâ living with them & he doesnât say anything đđđđ
