Hi. If you’re a transfer student at YorkU and got credits from your past school, will that be included in your transcript when you graduate?
I think it just shows up as “transfer credits” and doesn’t include the exact courses or grades.

I'm applying for letter of permission for 2 courses in my major with Athabasca for the summer semester. Once I've completed the courses, I'll get transfer credits for my major? Which means I'll get the credit right? I've never done LOP before. Also, can I apply for osap with Athabasca and how will I let osap know? Sorry for many questions and thank you in advance.
Unfortunately, I have no experience in this either. You should reach out to your faculty and the course department regarding this, as the course department is the one you’re submiting the LOP form to, and faculties are the ones who approve transfer credits.
“Transfer credit will be assessed based on the course work/requirements including in-class hours completed at the host institution and not on the course work/requirements of the York course credit exclusion or substitute. Please see York's General Academic Information for more information on in-class hours and check the ONTransfer database for potential course equivalencies.” - from the YorkU LOP website https://registrar.yorku.ca/enrol/lop
For OSAP, I’m not too sure.

Hey, I just got accepted into Sheridan... Does anyone have any first hand experiences with getting transfer credits they can share?
You can only transfer elective credits unless the courses you did are the same in content/code as Sheridan’s BGD courses. They don’t compare content by default, however, only code. If the credits are able to be transferred without any extra work, it will happen automatically in the system.
You’d probably have to have someone from the OTR look into it for you on a case by case basis if you want other credits transferred. I don’t know if they will or can do this now, though.
In my case, I wasn’t able to transfer any of my previous art credits despite BGD having several of them, because “the content was too different”. I was told because they had different course codes, they couldn’t be compared in terms of content, despite both being Sheridan courses (note: they were animation credits, if it applies to anybody out there. You would think they’d accept those, but apparently not).

Hi, I want to switch to Seneca college at York for September, who do I talk to about transferring credits?
That would be a question for Seneca College. Aside from the joint programs, Seneca @ York is just a campus of Seneca College that happens to be located on York’s Keele Campus.

When I graduate from York and do a second degree , will most of my credits transfer? For example if I take my second degree and my previous degree covers 84 out of the 90 credits, Can I just take the 2 courses that i don't have and get the 2nd degree?
No, when you do a second degree only 60 credits will be transferred, so you will still have to do another 60 credits in order to graduate (if you want to do Honours that is). If you want to graduate with just another Bachelors then you’ll have to do 30 additional credits.

How do i transfer credits from york to another school? is this something that needs to be done over the phone or can i do it online?
You need to speak to an admissions advisor at whatever school you want to transfer to, since this is a York blog, none of us have expertise with transferring to other schools.

Transfer credits are always regulated by the university you want to go to, so like A said, you would have to contact the university you want to transfer to and ask them about how many transfer credits you can potentially receive. Also, I believe transfer credits are automatic, when I came back to York after a little over 2 years my credits were transferred over to my new program automatically.

If i had my social science general requirement waived from transfer credits, can i assume that i can take those 6.0 credits and take more free electives?
You can take free electives, but having a degree requirement waived doesn’t mean that you have room to take more electives than the requirement for your program.
