The issue with Earthspark episode 3
The first time I noticed something was wrong with Earthspark was with this episode. But Bee being my favorite character and him being the victim of this episode, I thought I had Main Character biais and couldn't bear him being shown negatively.
But no, it was ES, who just failed one of his supposed "main character".
The episode insists that Bumblebee is at fault for not being fully committed to his mission (wanting to finish as quickly as possible to do something else) and for not adapting his teaching methods to the children. To the point he caused anxiety to the Terrans and it almost hurt them.
Well, he wanted to finish this mission quickly to go back on the field. But he didn't butcher his mission. He tried to adapt, he asked others for advices several times and he listened to them. He changed his methods.
It was the children who never tried to take an interest in his training. They were the ones who didn't give Bumblebee the opportunity to improve, not Bee who refused to adapt.
They prefers making fun of Bee for not wanting to be part of the family (he knows them AT BEST since a few days) and for taking himself and his "deadly serious mission" too seriously. ES itself shows him being WAY too arrogant to be annoyed that kids are ignoring him, the great Bumblebee like no one will be annoyed in his place
I know they are kids, but that is not a reason to tolerate their bad behaviors. It is precisely at this time they must be put back on the right path. Their parents SHOULD have scolded them. They do that in the next episode. Why not in this one? Is it becase the kids are hurting someone else and not them ? Grade A+ parenting.
The kids made fun of Bumblebee's face and are outraged when he gets upset. Twitch destroyed the barn and endangered the humans because she couldn't control her anger (anger that was quite exaggerated given the offense). THEY were the ones in the wrong, they should have been corrected and apologized.
(Bumblebee is the only one who feel bad after this scene. When HE was the one being insulted. Talk about victim-blaming...)
Alex apologized for being an awkward fanboy with Bumblebee, the kids have no reason not to do the same.
One of the stupidest things is, they have no reason not to be interested in Bumblebee and his trainings:
The children are supposed to be curious about the world and Transformers, and they have a real full-time present Transformer to answer all their questions
The Terrans have just been kidnapped and need training to defend themselves and their family
Their training is one of the reasons they can stay with the Maltos
The human children have an ultra fan of Bumblebee as a father since they're born, are they not ultra curious?
The Terrans discovered they couldn't transform, they should be worried about this. Twitch tries in secret to transform but instead of asking a experienced Transformer to help her, she chooses to insult him behind his back for being a know-it-all (he's million years old when she's born literally 3 days ago, of course he knows more)
About this last point, we didn't get a real explanation about the Terrans failure to transform. Robbie accused Bumblebee of putting pressure on them, but again, not true. The Terrans weren’t even stress by Bee’s instruction. They were relax and everone was laughing when Trash failed to transform.
And honestly, Bee’s instruction is the equivalent of asking someone to open their school books. There are more stressful things than that. In the show, the Terrans were able to transform when their life was in danger, multiple times before and after this episode.
In Episode 5, the Terrans manage to transform while they're in Ghost's base and facing Megatron's dangerous training session.
In Episode 11, Twitch has no problem transforming even though she's extremely stressed. HASHTAG has no problem even though it's her first day with an alt and she's in great danger at Ghost's hands.
Etc. etc. There's other examples in the show but the point is: Twitch and Trash being unable to transform is stupid and was invented for this episode just to make Bumblebee looks like an idiot.
This episode could have been a lot better if it was about how Bumblebee is not used to kids since his species is composed of adults only, and he passed 15y being completely alone. Or about how the Terrans discovered living openly with adults, especially one the same (kinda) species as them. Or both.
Or a least have episode 4 before this one. It will at least make more sense why the Terrans treat Bumblebee and their parents in so different ways when they discovered the Terrans existance the exact same day.
WHERE DID THIS COME FROM??? She never cared about training before this episode ! Girl, seriously, you are in no position to say that.
