Okay so I haven’t posted anything in a while, much less anything about my Tfp: Great Grey Wings AU.
Buuutttt…
I’m hoping to maybe release the first chapter soon on ao3?? I recently revised it bcs I didn’t like how it ended, and I like how it’s written now, but I’m unsure about one thing: Soundwave.
Soundwave shows up to take care of ‘baby’ Mercury and I don’t know what to do with him. Like, yes I do know what to do with him, but also I don’t.
It’s the vow of silence that’s stumping me. I LOVE the vow, it’s an amazing character concept and I DO NOT want to take that away from him. But at the same time I love describing his voice*, and I feel Mercury needs a strong steady, real voice at this time. Not a bunch of clips from thirty different bots.
I have him currently breach the vow and talk to her. He blames it on the Allspark infused air making him reckless or whatever. And him slowly turning away from the current mission of the Decepticons. (And the vow being linked to the reason the Decepticons started-the all talk, no shock of the former Autobot Council Soundwave used to be on)
THERE IS LOGIC BEHIND IT I PROMISE. I just don’t…want him to break it. I mean technically he could just…revow it and go back to living his silent life, but what’s the point in having a vow of silence if you break it every two seconds to talk to someone??

Should Soundwave break his mellenia long vow of silence?? (For a random new-spark who needs his love and affection???)

*sample of the way I have his voice described rn:
“Mercury istened to the singing voice. It was deep, but not without emotion and she felt safe near it. Even though the bot it belonged to looked anything but safe, with all his pokiness and sharp angles.”
The big green and grey mech is Mercury. She used to be a techno organic before she found and touched the Allspark. The Allspark decided to give her a full Cybertronian body for helping hide it and she grew to be a full sized Cybertronian. I hope to go through some body horror with the whole transformation thing, especially since she didn’t even know she was a techno organic before she got transformed. Soooo lucky her? She has Tfp Soundwave to help her through it.
Eventually the human government finds out about her bc she’s still living with her family and tell her more about the war. She decides that she believes in the Original Decepticon cause and vows to steer them back to it. She goes to live with the ‘Cons and becomes their ATC officer.
When Megatron comes back she talks to him about how everything is run etc etc. and she brings up a bunch of caste stuff yadda yadda.
Anyways. The reason Perceptor is here is because of the Dark Energon. After the season one finale Megatron wants it gone, but he doesn’t know how. So ofc he turns to the resident scientist, Starscream. Who obv knows nothing. Buuuuttttt. Because in this AU Soundwave and Shockwave are brothers, Soundwave finds out that Shockwave isn’t dead a lot earlier and brings him back. Shockwave still needs help and they turn to the humans, thinking maybe one of them can help? Turns out one can. Only it’s one its Mercury’s childhood friends. So she’s brought aboard(re: kidnapped) and has to help Shockwave save Megatron.
Eventually Perceptor finds his way to earth and is intercepted by the Decepticons. Mercury and him become friends and I kinda want to ship them together. I think it’d be cute. So this was a hight chart to kinda determine how tall they were and it also ended up becoming a pretty good final upgrade(adult) design for Mercury. I have a bunch if other stuff planned but that’s for later. This is kinda a breakdown of the first part of the story. I also have a connection to the Mecha pilot jazz AU that’s set after this story but it’s also an AU of this story bc Jazz is kinda important here.
Also Percy is designed after Cyberverse Percy. I’m trying to find a way to blind him. Idk how yet.
Anyway. That was a ramble. I’m currently calling it Great Grey Wings bc she turns into the prettiest airframe to ever fly: The F-14 Tomcat!!
