Last Thursday I managed to catch the great grandson of the OG 2402. For some unknown reason COTA was running the bus on the 10. The New 2402 is a New Flyer XE40 (Electric bus) whereas the OG bus was a diesel bus (2004 D40LF). COTA has select blocks on certain routes for electric buses and the 10 is not one of the routes. In addition the XE40s have been rather unreliable and have had so many problems COTA axed their contract with NFI and are switching back to Gillig. Thanks to some fellow transit fans letting me know on discord while I was still at work it was on the 10 (and still was when I got home) I managed to catch the bus. Can say the new 2402 is doing very well as far as I can tell when compared to some of the other 24xx XE40s. The New 2402 will become the "official" mascot for the Alternate Blog and the OG 2402 will remain the mascot for this blog.
