New Moon in Cancer;
This New Moon in Cancer is the first of a series of lunations that will focus on our approach to many serious themes like family ties, karmic debts and, more importantly, how our apparently conscious actions can be so cruelly determined by totally inconcious emotional currents.
July 12, 2018; at 23:47 (UTC -3).
This is mostly due to the Lunar Nodes’ movements towards the Cancer-Capricorn axis. For several months now, we’ve been focusing on the Leo-Aquarius axis, which is an axis that operates on a more conscious level: for even if these are energies that can be hard to grasp more profoundly at times, we can still work more practically with them on our daily lives. Leo-Aquarius themes are more apparent. Their issues tend to be clear and evident to the conscious mind. Ultimately, both are energies tied to the brightness of the ego (Leo) and how it operates when interacting with other egos in a rather complicated manner (Aquarius). Cancer-Capricorn issues, in turn, tend to be much more unconscious; they’re less aparent, less visible and less noticeable. There doesn’t seem to exist a great deal of choice involved with these energies, as there is with the Leo-Aquarius axis, hence its association with karma and early conditions of our upbringing that helped shape our emotional nature (Cancer) and, because of that, everything that we may come to produce and achieve (Capricorn) too.
This is all to say that things are starting to get deeper. For some people, this is clearly beneficial; others might find it more challenging. Either way, there seems to be a lot of heavenly emphasis on the need to develop emotional maturity, and this is actually a common theme found in many of the past lunations.
Pluto in Capricorn (and Lilith too, to some extent) is producing a tight opposition to this New Moon. Figuratively, secrets of the underworld are being subtly revealed to us. There seems to be an underlying force suggesting and pointing us to the existence of a much darker nature than that we are accustomed to notice in daily life. Many of us may experience this as events that seem to demand from us a more flexible attitude towards life: there might be an emphasis on the need to let go of old grudges, to transform ourselves through our feelings and to start recognizing that we’re not that innocent at all. A lot of times, and more practically, this manifests as feeling pain from unknown sources, feeling more introspective than usual, which may lead to frustration or exhaustion, having old issues and problems making a comeback into your life, having somebody (re)enter your life and make you question things and so on. It really depends on the houses and planets that are being touched by this New Moon in your own chart.
There is also a fantastic earth Grand Trine in the sky that will remain active for quite a few days, involving Venus in Virgo, Saturn in Capricorn and Uranus in Taurus. Because Venus is the fastest planet of the three, she’s the one we consider to be the one receiving Saturn’s and Uranus’ influence. This is an indication that, right now, despite the great challenges that this eclipse imposes, we have the opportunity to manifest our dreams and ideas and feelings into reality if we are willing to work for it. It might also point to the fact that right now we need to be more mindful of others: their intentions, their background and limitations; and also to be more mindful of how we relate to people. In short, this is a wonderful time to be more respectful and more mature in all of our relationships: to ourselves, to others, to nature, to the objects we possess and everything really. Our relationship to our daily habits, health, routines and our performance in our work and in how we serve others may also suffer intense transformation if we are interested in that.
Because this is a partial eclipse, the influences of this New Moon will remain active for the next six months. So, as a New Moon, it’s extremely important to keep a clear head during this phase, but especially to try to focus ourselves in good intentions and positive wishes for ourselves and others, so that we might work towards them and see these flourish in the near future. This is also a time in which we’ll be seeing the results of everything we have wished for and focused ourselves on during the eclipses in Leo in 2017, so try to remember what you were going through in August and September of the last year; a lot of what will happen from now on may be a result of the mindset you had during that time.
If you’d like to be a little more specific considering how this lunation might affect you, search for the 20th degree of Cancer in your chart; see in which house it falls and if there are any planets related to this degree (in the sign of Gemini and others signs in the form of aspects).
Summary:
Allow yourself to get to know yourself better. Find the courage to face your own demons and fears face to face;
Try to stop blaming others for every bad thing that happens in your life; instead, focus on doing your best to figure out what you can do to transform it;
Not everything that is dark is evil, and not everything that operates in light is good;
If you have dreams and goals, this might be a good time to start planning how you’ll get to them in the near future;
Try not to be too caught up in depressive feelings; noticing them can help you figuring out what is wrong, but you shouldn’t dwell in them for long. Let yourself transform them into something else;
Mind people suddenly coming back into your life, they might be a hint to what kind of theme you should consider during this eclipse;
Please take care 💖
