This time last year I was accomplishing goals through a state of depression. Let me be clear about what I said, I was moving in my lowest state of existence. Everyday I prayed to God to deliver me from myself. To free my soul. I was praying for death yet God gave me life. He slowly began to elevate my state of being. He pulled me back into his house and surrounded me with his people, god fearing, loving, accepting, heart-filled people. And then he took everything away from me. My finances. My social network. My home. He uprooted me and dropped me face first in #Atlanta and told me “Son, this is where you rebuild!” You see, what God needed/needs me to understand is the greatness within my Blackness. The greatness in my trans identity. The greatness in my being. He needed me to find the humility of a true leader. He needed to remove my enemies from the front line. He needed me to be so grounded inside of him that I became unshakable. I know I’m on the right path because without the money, without the home, without the crowds of people everyday I STILL elevate to new heights. It’s no coincidence the first event I’m apart of in the A is called iElevate. This is God’s way of showing me my actions are of him. The ego almost killed me while the Holy Spirit saved me. And every single day I’m affirmed in ALL of my identities. I’m so grateful to have been blessed by @msvfox and many other Black creatives today at #ielevate2k18. I always tried to hide from my trans identity. I was so excited the world finally saw me as I saw myself that I didn’t want identifying as trans to take away from it. Then I start reading about what it means to have feminine and masculine energies. I learned about the power and insight many ancient communities bestowed upon individuals of trans experience. Equipped with this knowledge I compared the past 5 years of my life. I realized the gift I’d been granted. The insight I have that most people will never posses. More importantly, I stopped feeling ashamed of who I am. Today I wish every transgender person the gift of understanding and acceptance of self. Our families may not understand us. The world may try to reject us. But God created us. People once praised us.
