We are still accepting proposals, sponsorships, and vendor applications for the 2019 Symposium. We have plenty of spots available!
The deadline has been extended until March 17th!You can find the proposal and sponsorship form on transohio.org. Please email [email protected]!
(symposium is mid April in Columbus Ohio. No one is turned away for lack of ability to pay).
They are also VERY eagerly accepting first time proposals and lay-proposals. You do not need to be a professional presenter to submit one, you just have to have a trans/enby related topic that you are interested in that you think others should know about.
The only POC board member of TransOhio is a black trans woman who believes other black trans people don’t want or need trans groups like TransOhio because (in her EXACT words) “they’re either too busy trying to get drugs or make a living prostituting.”
This statement was in response to another black trans woman coming onto the Cincinnati trans community Facebook page and expressing concerns over the lack of inclusivity that she’d experienced in the past with trans social/support groups. Said woman was first SWARMED by racist white board members, and then dismissed by the above mentioned black board member for being autistic. When I attempted to lend my voice in support, she said that I wasn’t really trans because I’m nonbinary, that nonbinary is against “the true trans agenda,” that I live my life as a woman because people misgender me with feminine pronouns against my wishes, and then said I was “triggered” when her two hours of horrible, prejudice shit had me broken down in tears.
Trans community of Cincinnati: Beware TransOhio, Crosspoint, and Heartland Trans Wellness (the latter two took part in the attack against offering more racial inclusivity).
Day 15 Been busy the last couple of days. Sorry about the lack of pics, but I did take all my meds. 2 weeks with skipping once. Good on me. Had a hard day at work, lots of physical labor. I'm making myself go to TransOhio tonight. Need to make myself interact. I am really trying for an androgynous look. Don't have time or strength to get real femme. Opinions welcomed, even harsh ones.
my case manger has been helping me change my name. and we applied for a for help from transohio for money for the name change and they sent the check to MY house with my BOY name on it!!!
my mother got it and opened it and then confronted about me with it today
things are fine i guess she’s not gonna kick me out and she’s gonna ‘try’ to understand.
i mean i guess im glad to be out at home but like i still got outed by transohio wtf??
CALLING ALL TRANSGENDER AND GNB ARTISTS IN OHIO
TransOhio seeks to help Camp Lilac. Camp Lilac is a summer camp in Ohio for transgender and gender non binary/ GNC youth to attend and experience the fun of camp activities with others! On June 3rd, they are holding a fundraiser event in Cleveland area to ensure that all trans and GNB children can attend even if they have limited resources. This event involves an art sale and auction and they are particularly seeking artists from the community who may be willing to donate some of their pieces for the event. They are asking for short bio from the artist and any information about your artwork etc. The coordinator of the camp and event is coming to Columbus Saturday, May 27th to pick up work from central and southern Ohio artists who may be willing to donate pieces. TransOhio will be collecting such donations and information on pieces and artists for delivery to the coordinator. Please bring any items to Panera Bread on North high St in Clintonville between 11 AM - 12:30 PM on Saturday, May 27, 2017. If this time is not convenient, please contact Melissa at [email protected] to make arrangements for pick up beforehand or alternative methods of delivery. Thanks and let's help out our trans and GNB/GNC youth to enjoy a summer camp experience ! (Original post on Facebook: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1473855475999463&id=876325272419156 )

Brb WEARING THIS FOREVER. Ok so I've been radio silent for a while. On my various roleplay blogs and working ALL THE HOURS. But hey! It's Michi. I'm super pumped to be taking the steps toward getting my legal name and gender marker change. The process might take a month or two but I'm pushing forward hard as I can. Going through the process with the help of Equitas Health and TransOhio has been a dream. Just went to one of their clinics, which I've posted about on my Facebook page. They helped inform me of all I'd need to get things changed. Has financial aide available for those who need it, and even gave me some sweet swag. I'm just so excited. This change is a ray of hope I'm gonna chase. In this day and age it's appreciated. As for my future last name... it's a secret. ;) For now, at least. I'll be sharing my name change announcement when it's printed. For now I'm gonna revel in the joy that is the first big step to this change. To my true self. In other news I've got a few cons coming up! I'll be Paneling at C2E2 again this year! I'll be at Animarathon next month, and Gojotekicon in May! More info on panels and such TBA. Thank you all my lovelies! I'll try to be a bit more active on here, and my askbox is always open if you've got questions!
