When I made my reservation for the Crowne Plaza for Ohayocon I included a special request. I asked for something simple. ‘A framed photo of Ellen DeGeneres in the room’

This is the first time a hotel honored this request. Everyone who came to our room geeked out at this and I shared it on Facebook as well. So I figured I’d share it on Tumblr too.

UPDATE

So I stayed at the Crowne Plaza again for Matsuricon this past weekend. Once more I put in a request for ‘A framed photo of Ellen DeGeneres in the room’. While checking in the folks at the desk were like “Oh wow, you’re the Ellen guy– we’ve got that photo all squared away for you!”

I was expecting the same photo with a new note. What I was not expecting was this.

Not just any photo– a framed photo of the photo I took. I shared it on Facebook again and tagged their official page. This time they left a comment.

Let’s see what next year’s Ohayocon holds.

IT GOT BETTER

So unfortunately, I had to cancel Matsuri this year-- I managed to fracture a rib, which makes driving for long periods impossible. I handed my room off to a friend of mine, and requested she send a photo of the Ellen pic once she got to con.

I find this image oddly apropos, considering the situation.

Y’ALL my sister just dropped a theory about Moana on me and I’m

Grandma Tala. She seemed like a fairly healthy old woman on the whole, right? Dancing with the sea and the rays, doing Old Crazy Lady things etc etc. Okay. Sure.

The thing is, my sister suddenly pointed out that, ever since Moana dropped it as a baby, Tala had possession of the Heart of Te Fiti. The source of Life.

And then she gave it to Moana, who ran off with it to try and get the islanders to voyage out for Maui, and… suddenly deteriorated. Died.

What if the Heart had been keeping her alive. Te Fiti gave Life to the islands, but in the hands of another, what if that isn’t what it does? What if the Heart grants immortality? What if Tala knew, and still gave up the Heart so that Moana could find Maui, restore Te Fiti, and save Motunui?

And if that’s what the power of the Heart really was, no wonder the monsters wanted it.

You know what? I adored Lefou in the BATB remake. He was positively amazing and the best damn thing about the film in my opinion. I agree that he could have had a bit more screen time at the end there-- but his character was evolved so well. 

I waited to see the film, gave Josh Gad a chance and he blew me away. Mind you, my expectations were already sky high. I read the novelization and knew what I was getting myself into. Lefou had depth and even when he wasn’t speaking he had a presence. Not gonna throw out any spoilers but hot darn he won my heart.
