"Well" the well-meaning liberal, maybe a friend, says "I'm not afraid of werewolves, one of my coworkers is one and you'd never know".

"I'm not against people making choices about their lifestyle" the conservative, your uncle or aunt or manager says. "But they shouldn't be trying to recruit kids, they can't make that kind of choice for themself"

The well-meaning liberal makes a thoughtful sound. "Yeah, you're right. It's a big change in their life and they should have to go through therapy so they know it's the right choice"

You think very carefully about your words. "Well, shouldn't we trust them to know their own feelings and bodies?"

The two, they would claim to be ideologically opposed in every way, look at you as if you have suggested drinking a tall refreshing glass of bleach. This is not something safe, normal people say.

"Don't be ridiculous" They say, using different words and appeals. "Children aren't born werewolves."

"They were born that way and they can't know that" The liberal says.

"They grew fangs and fur because society made them, which is why we justly pressure them against it" the conservative asserts.

You go quiet, clearly abashed. Nobody who had been born without the wolf under their skin understood when you tried to tell them. Whenever you spoke of a loneliness you didn't have words for in kindergarten, how elementary school was just an increasing series of mistakes where you let your teeth show to the wrong people. Middle school where wagging was met with violence against your body and person. High school that you don't remember. If you speak on these things it is sad for them.

But they never understand.

Because to them, the idea that you want to protect the pups out there because you never had an elder show you safety and joy is an impossible thought.

Monsters like you are not born, they always say. Monsters cannot have cubs of their own, they know. So the idea that you have little ones to shield is just nonsense.

I think all 3 of Ghidorah’s heads respect trans people’s pronouns, but each for a totally different reason.

Ichi (middle head) considers it a sign of respect for a species he is eradicating. It’s like a hunter respecting the chase that prey gives.

Ni (right head) does do with a dash of cruelty. To him, it’s just twisting the knife and salting the wound, giving someone a moment of joy so that the depths of despair sting that much more.
