you aren't "appropriating'' anything. you aren't being disrespectful. take it from a cis-neuro with a lot of trauma around not being "normal enough" - i love that you wanna be like me! i love that you want my neuro stuff! i love that you see such identity and belonging and beauty in my disorders!!!

Transsynesthesia

a term that describes those who wish they had /had been born with synesthesia, that they should have synesthesia but they physically don't have don't have that ability (such as being an alter in a system that has a sense in the inner world that the body doesn't have or vice versa), or a person who developed synesthesia later in life (such as from a brain injury, a preexisting mental health diagnosis {ie. autism [many misophonia havers are on the autism spectrum]}, etc.)

could you share any tips or advice for people who are transsynesthesia? tysm ^^

It does matter which synesthesia you’re trying to transition to! But the best tip i can give is start trying to associate the two things you want to cross over!

like if you want sound and visuals, associate set sounds with set colors and shapes! Or colors and taste, start associating those two!

I have many forms of synesthesia and can say there are similarities, for me, things that are light blue all tend to taste the same. Or songs that have a more softer voice tend to be more yellow in nature.

you can also research the type of synesthesia you want to start associating things! Best first step is associating two things together, and then repeatedly thinking that they are intertwined!
