roblox is blursed
my friend keeps calling his oc a trap and got angry when i said that it made me, a trans mtf, uncomfortable. "the community has accepted it" are u sure about that tho? please check your facts ma'am and take that im uncomfortable by it into consideration pls ;~;
Your friends is awful and transphobic, the community has accepted it my ass, I haven't seen a single trans person ok with that term, and even if a trans person was ok with it, it doesn't change the fact that others are going to dislike the term and get uncomfortable with it, you should stop being friends with them.
I’m not back from hiatus yet but I feel like I really need to get this off my chest and also call out some bullshit
So recently online I started following a male Asian cosplayer/drag queen, his makeup and cosplays are AMAZING, all he’s doing is showcasing his talent and love for drag, it’s seriously amazing.
But in looking at the comments, I could hardly find one positive comment. They were all saying “it’s a trap,” “This should be illegal,” “ew it’s a trap,” etc etc.
This really started bugging me. So I went and looked at some white drag queen’s comments.
They were overwhelmingly positive. “Queen, slay me!” “Gorgeous!” “Love your work, love your makeup!”
I kept comparing POC cosplayers and dragqueens comments to white cosplayers and dragqueens and the trend continued. POCs comments overwhelmingly rude and negative, the white persons comments overwhelmingly positive.
Not only is it wrong to insult anyone of any race and call them shit like that just for showing off a form of art, it’s literal fucking racism.
People of color can cosplay and do drag too. If you’re going to give nothing but love to white queens, you better give all the same love to POC queens and cosplayers.
All they are doing is showcasing their talents. Do not call them traps. Do not insult them.
POC have every right to cosplay, do drag, do makeup and more just as white people do. They are no different than a white person in makeup or drag.
To summarize, if you go around giving tons of love to white dragqueens, cosplayers, makeup artists, etc, but insult and belittle POC people who do the same- you aren’t edgy. You aren’t funny. You aren’t cute. You are racist. Plain and simple. And you need to step the fuck down and get a life.
To all my POC cosplayers and more out there: know how loved and admired you are. There are so many young people out there who will look up to you and aspire to be you one day. You are beautiful, you are handsome, you are fierce, you are amazing. Please keep doing what you’re doing- you deserve all the love.
not saying I fully believe this, but try this hypothesis on for size:
I think the “are traps gay” meme is largely people genuinely trying to explore their sexuality, but they just don’t have any of the appropriate vocabulary. without the proper terminology, they can’t necessarily articulate the difference between a trans woman, a non-binary or genderfluid person, or just a guy in a dress, let alone properly express the nuances of their attraction towards such characters.
I’ve seen plenty of users get into full blown arguments or just long winded discussions about androgynous characters where they’re clearly trying to tease out something about their sexuality that they can’t put into words.
Picture this: Trap Nadia. A Nadia AU where she looks like a 'she' but is actually a 'he'.
The term ‘trap’ is an offensive slur. Also, your sentence ‘she looks like a she but is actually a he’ is also very transphobic. Please reconsider the way you structure your sentences.
just tried to explain what transgender meant to my cousin,,, who’s only knowledge of the term was with ‘traps’,,,,
He’s a good kid with a shitty education so i’m trying but fuck its the worst to try and explain that, no trans women are women and trans men are men while also pretending to be an ally and acting like his shock and horror isn’t the most painful gosh dang thing. like how the heck am i supposed to come out.
since apparently this still has to be said:
“traps are gay” is shitty! you’re basically just saying “trans women are just gay men in dresses”!!
trap is a transmysoginistic slur!!!
stop doing this shit you limp noodles!!!!!
