For a brief moment, she was confused. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to approach her and start talking to her like that? She turned to face him, her cat-like eyes meeting his, and she tilted her head as he spoke. When he actually introduced himself, her expression changed to a more relaxed and attentive look.
“Ah, Vael’s father. The little one has told me about you. Do… Forgive me, but young Vael called to me, so I came. My name is Cairn.” If it wasn’t obvious that she wasn’t human, or mortal, she would tell the emperor, should he ask.
“As for my intentions with Vael? Whatever they need. You needn’t call me madam. It makes me feel older than I already am.”
“Very well, Ms. Carin,” Jarvan inclined his head. He frowned, however - why had Vael never mentioned this... woman.... before? It would be rude, of course, to assume, but a part of him thought that perhaps not all was what it appeared, and so, he considered it best to not comment upon her appearance at all.
“I am afraid I must insist. I am their father, after all. Do you... truly not wish any harm to them? To only do what they desire of you? What if they are naughty and must be scolded, what would you do in such a situation?”
Was it perhaps very overprotective of him to demand of her so many answers? Perhaps, but he felt as if he must nonetheless, for Vael was his child and his charge and he desired nothing more than the best for them.
