This bitch
my dog put a thing in a box for the first time
[video id: a low angle video of anubis, a black/white parti standard poodle; and his handler’s knees and arm as they sit on the floor. anubis is handed a white nylabone and puts it in a small cardboard box at the bottom of the frame. his handler clicks a clicker repeatedly and says, “yay! what a good boy!” end video ID]
A badly framed video of some informal dog dancing-type tricks in my living room. This kind of thing is really good for keeping Haley mobile. She has pretty killer rear end awareness, and we need to maintain it and strengthen it even more. This kind of thing is usually what we do as a fun warm-up or unwind.
You'll notice that Haley is very vocal when working. She also is giving off a lot of "this is fun" cues. She's very attentive to my body language, less so to my vocal commands, so that is something we're working on. If we weren't in such a small cramped space, she could show off her distance back-up, and better leg weaving and scooting! I have to video it at a big training hall.
We've done a lot of work with rally, tricks, and freestyle, which hopefully will come together in some cool freestyle routines in the future. We just won't be doing any kind of jumping, for the sake of the poor lady's IVDD. But I would kind of like to possibly take her out to perform at little events, or seniors homes.
He's learning hold!!!!
And so, it descended into anarchy
i love getting aang comfortable with his new soft crate cause literally all i have to do is sit on the couch and throw training treats into every now and then
his clockwise pivot to heel is coming along really well!!
[video ID: anubis, a 1y/o black/white parti standard poodle, puts his front feet on an out of frame stool and pivots to his handler’s right side going clockwise. they stand against a mint green wall. end ID.]
This is from last year, but here's a little game for building drive to front. My timing was a bit off, but ideally the dog should never know whether you're about to throw the toy through your legs or have them sit in front. You want them coming in as fast either way.
There's more "levels" of this game that involve varying where/when you throw the toy, and moving your own position.
