I was so intrigued by the description of this normal looking house in Colorado. This formerly majestic home was once the seller’s pride and joy. Now it’s every landlord’s nightmare. 

This house is not for the faint of heart but for that special person who can see the gem inside. You will see soaring ceilings and an open floor plan with a second-floor overlook.

“You will also notice there is not one surface of the home that has not been enhanced with black spray paint or a swinging hammer - damage done by an angry tenant who didn’t want to pay rent.”

It also said: DO NOT GO ON BACK DECK. DO NOT OPEN FREEZER IN BASEMENT.

There is a walk-out to a back deck – but don’t go out there as the deck is not necessarily attached to the house in the manner you might hope. 

The upstairs has a catwalk, large master with soaking tub and dual sinks, plus 2 additional bdrms and bath – all covered in black spray paint, vulgarities, and other substances which are no longer identifiable.

The basement is amazing – or at least it will be once all the debris is cleared out, the floor coverings are replaced, and the obscenities are painted over. It’s not nearly as daunting as the freezer in the basement that’s full of meat and hasn’t had electricity to it for over a year. So be sure to wear your mask. You may not be able to endure the smell if you don’t. Oh, and did I mention it’s in the pink of a geological landslide area? Cool fixer-upper for only $590,000.

Guest killed pet, trashed house

Interesting weekend. I found out on Sunday my guests had hosted a party at my house. They made no attempt to clear up, and besides the vast amount of litter there are stains on carpets and up the walls (still visible after 6 coats of paint!), radiators smashed and hanging off walls, numerous items stolen and worst - they'd poisoned my fish who are now dead which I'm certain was intentional because you don't accidentally pour a can of Campbells soup into a fish tank.

I reached out to airbnb via phone immediately and was told someone would call me shortly. I reached out the next day and was told someone would email me shortly. I called back Tuesday and again today to hear the same. No-one I spoke to knew what the process would be once (if) I did hear from somebody. I'm told it has been escalated to highest possible level, but I've not heard anything.

I've tried both Dispute Resolution and also Incident reporting but both are unable to upload photos from - they don't take uploads from iOS devices and that's all I have access to at the moment. So I've filled the information in, but not sent any photos.

Has anyone had experience of similar? Any idea of how long it takes to hear from airbnb and what the general process is?

Kind of at my wits end. It's not the cash so much as wanting to know who it was who rented my house - perhaps I'm still too emotional but hell, I want to take them to court. Is this possible?
