Happy Fanfic Writer Friday! ♥ What're your favorite genres/tropes to write? Ones you want to try? Ones you struggle with?

Hello, new friend!

My favorite genre is a good romance. Favorite tropes right now are friends to lovers, "there was only one bed", tall and small, and idk how to describe it but I know it's a thing: a ray of sunshine and a dark cloud, I guess. Em is the ray of sunshine. If someone can help me out here with that, that would be wonderful.

I'm not sure with ones I want to try yet, but I'll give it a good think!

One I struggle with is smut. I can't just write smut if I'm not in the mood, or like, lusty scenes. Like, if a scene is turning hot, then I have to be.. in the mood for it? I mean, I'm proud of the smutty scenes I have (I'm planning on participating in the next kinktober, and will post the two I did last year on my AO3. I'm really proud of one of them hehe).

I think the other thing is angst. To me, there has to be a reason for it, and I can't just write angst for the sake of it being angst. I need a reason for Em or Mac or both to be freaking out, angry, sad, etc. I don't have the heart to hurt them for no reason.

👄 What is your OC’s smile like? Is it bright and wide, or thin and reserved? Does your OC wear any lipgloss or lipstick? Do they chew their lips?

Em's smile is very pretty, and she loves to smile! It's very bright and wide. Many people would say that she lights up the whole room when she grins fully. Seeing her smile and laugh genuinely for the first time stunned Mac, and he made it his new favorite thing: to make her smile just like that as much as he could.

Em will pull out the lip color during special occasions, mainly if she has to get all dolled up for a fancy party or something related. She pulls off the ruby red color very well, but every day? Nah, she doesn't wear makeup very much.

She does chew on her lip sometimes, but only when she's concentrating hard on something, or really nervous. Though if she's concentrating on something, it's either a chew on the lip, or her tongue poking out of the corner of her mouth! (It's cute).

Hmm, well, I'll tease a little for Bring the Gasoline Chapter 12, and for a future OT3 fic 👀

An alternate summary of BtG Chapter 12 might be: Hi, my name is Nat and contrary to what you've heard, actually, I am so soft. Very soft. Please don't poke me. Ouch.

Assuming it doesn't split into two chapters on me, it will be a split POV between Nat and Mac. It has been unexpectedly emotional as I've been writing it. Got a little choked up in a spot or two. But, I think it will be emotional in a way that is hopeful. Hopefully. 🙂

A yet untitled OT3 project I've been excited about for a long time but won't be writing for a while yet: a series of Deacon POV vignettes as he's "observing" Nat and Mac from afar prior to actually meeting them. I'm starting to get a sense for what specific moments I want to have in that fic. There's a BtG Chapter 12 moment that's on the list. 👀

for Vaughn both of them: touch, words of affirmation, quality time, acts of service. 

for Nick to Vaughn: words of affirmation, quality time, acts of service, touch

for Hancock to Vaughn: touch, quality time, gifts, acts of service

15. What are traits they dislike in one another?

Vaughn really doesnt like how both his husbands talk low about themselves.

Nick doesnt like how Vaughn is reckless and puts himself in danger a lot

Hancock doesnt like how Vaughn has low self esteem.

26. What are their favorite parts about physical affection/sex?

Vaughn really loves to feel both of them close. he is fascinated by their skin textures, both different, but loves to feel on his own skin. the closeness is what is very important to him. he also loves their eyes: both pairs are different, but very fascinating. he will keep eye contact for a longer time, something he never liked to do before, but now he does with his loves.

for Nick, it needed some time to get used to the contact, and is still careful not to hurt Vaughn with his metal hand, even that the other will encourage him to use it more often. but for him, someone to held him and to be so close and not feel bad, it means a lot to him.

for Hancock, as much close as possible. he loves to have his hands onto Vaughn, and to cuddle to him. at first he wasnt sure how Vaughn will react to him, given his skin texture, but now he is reassured that Vaughn really loves the close contact.

23. Write a ~300 scene between them with no dialogue, only body language.

this is awkward af and im rusted so its a very rough thing i wrote on my phone:

He has been watching his partner for a while. His desk has a great view in the kitchen, where the other was cooking dinner. The afternoon sun was basking the house in a warm light, but he can swear that his partner was shinning even more. He has been wearing a rose dress, which is flowing by every move his partner does.

The radio was playing a soft song, and Vaughn has been humming to it as he was cutting vegetables on the cupboard. Nick has lost the train of thoughts from the file on his desk, and got up, walking slowly to his partner. Just in time as another song was starting to play, Nick wrapped his arms arond Vaughn's waist. He kissed the other's neck and shoulder, making him sigh and relax under his touch. He ran his hand over Vaughn's chest and abdomen, almost close to his crotch area, making him shudder. Vaughn has turned to face Nick and looked into his eyes, before their mouths met in a passional kiss. 

No words were needed. They knew one thing for sure: they love each other.
