Fav idol novels read so far:

Debut or Die (10/10): Absolute peak. The OG gold standard idol novel. My first idol novel and this #1 throne will never be overthrown.

Assistant Manager Kim Hates Idols (9/10): If you think you're working hard and having a bad day, Kim Iwol is working harder and suffering more than you T_T the unreliable narration in this one goes crazy. Pure black expresso shots of bitter depression. But the member relationships are so sweet and the bantering is funny and cute (my FAV Kim Iwol x Choi Jeho dynamic goes hard).

The Trashy PD Has to Survive as an Idol (8/10): Angst is all of these novels' middle names. I also love this story with all my heart. Unfortunately, the site I was using did not have the extra side stories uploaded, so I didn't get to read how the final loose ends wrapped up :( which made the ending feel rushed and a little unresolved.

While I’m Taking Revenge, I’ll Conquer The Top Idol (7/10): don't get me wrong; I really liked this story and it was really gripping. But while it was a thrilling read and I binged it so fast, I feel like it became less and less about idol work and more relationship drama (not that I don't welcome the misunderstandings and angst)

Overall, I think if there's a novel version, definitely read the novel. But the manhwa is a nice way to get you into the series.

This is great timing because I literally just started rolling around an amkhi x trash pd crossover in my head

When Kim Iwol hears that Spark will be working together with The Dawn, he first thinks of the minor controversies the other idol group has been involved in since their debut. Then he firmly reminds himself to reserve judgment until after they've met; online rumors can easily be blown out of proportion after all.

This resolve crumbles almost immediately when The Dawn introduces themselves and Iwol blurts out, "Seo Hoyun?"

"Hm?"

"Hyung, do you know him?"

Iwol shakes his head and makes an excuse, swiftly returning to his proper idol etiquette, but he can't help sneaking a few more glances as their first meeting continues. The man is about ten years younger and there's a distinct lack of egg yolk in his hair, but he's pretty sure he's not mistaken. Even Iwol couldn't be ignorant of someone so universally hated by idol fans of every group.

Why is Seo Hoyun here?

Seo Hoyun, the trashy PD, the master of evil editing who probably contributed to at least 15% of Spark's terrible image in the previous timeline—that Seo Hoyun... is an idol?

What I've gathered from this: I favor kinda crazy, domineering... slightly sensitive types??? Again, I learn something new about myself everyday...

Yoon Eden and Kang Hajin are probably the most sane, but they share underlying inferiority complexes that they learn to work through.

Yoon Eden and Han Si-On are far and away the most [artistically] sensitive. Unsurprisingly, they're the composers/producers of their groups. Along with Kang Ichae (also the composer) are extremely confident in their music.

Seol Gaon and Seo Hoyoon are the most... uh unhinged. Like, they would die on stage to achieve their goals. 😂

Besides Si-On, the rest are really playful... uh, though their members might have a thing or two to say about that. Lmao. Teasing kings. Seo Hoyoon and Kang Hajin bring about their Oldest Brother energy to it.

Seol Gaon is an older brother too, but because his nerves are so fraught at the time I'm writing this, his teasing is definitely more... unbalanced toward the other characters— like he's half taking out his stress on them. (He's also the only one with a younger sister here, which may or may not make a difference?)

All of them are talented, all of them are confident in themselves. Besides Kang Ichae, who is the only non-main character here, they're all people who keep their groups in line. All of them can be really scary and intimidating. ♥️💦 They're also undeniably charismatic and cool.

Also, just noticed that all the MCs here are various regressors. Lmao my tastes are really predictable if I get down to it.

Seo Hojin doubting whether or not Seo Hoyun still loved him was so ridiculously baby of him. Like yeah, yeah maybe the guy who's been forcefully raising you since you were ten and who sometimes takes your offhanded comments and gestures as life-altering gospel and who has committed atrocities for you finally got tired of you. And then less than a week later in true big brother from hell fashion Seo Hoyun erases that doubt by making him wish the answer was no. They are never getting out of my microwave.
