I’ve heard this one word in many different ways throughout my life. In most cases I was regularly complimented on mine. But teaching, is a reflective practice and has forced me to think a lot about my smile. In March I had a student write me a note that I saved which thanked me for smiling at her each and every day. I save the note because this is one student who looks at you as if she doesn’t want to communicate with you or really just doesn’t want anything from anyone. So I was in awe that she thanked me for doing that I didn’t realize I did or gave her each and every day. I smile really because it’s for me. I don’t like stress I don’t like holding stress so I smile. It may be a little word but it means so much to so many. I have a student who shared with me and their peers that they come to school because they can guarantee I’ll smile at them during the day.
