Public Restrooms & Train restrooms.
Like with any public restroom, they see much use and people tend to not clean up after themselves. Initially we think public restrooms are way gross. That is because they get so much use and not as much attention by staff. Over time we become desensitized to things. If you are an adult with children, you know exactly what I mean. With time I have become somewhat desensitized to the idea that public restrooms are gross. I have seen spotless restrooms, those that would qualify as ok, sub par and completely disgusting. Most of them function properly. In the beginning, when in a new area if the restroom was not really clean, I would pull up google maps to see what retailers were close by that were likely to have a clean restroom. That didnt always work well and forced me to deal with using a restroom that may have not been spotless. Train restrooms are similar to airplane restrooms except they get much more use from passengers and less attention by staff. Today I was a little thrown off that during our layover in Albany that no staff did anything with the restroom that someone flooded earlier... It makes me wonder what the cleaning procedures are for trains, plans and buses with restrooms? The transportation industry really doesnt stop... Does that mean that they rarely clean because they are always moving? It will be nice to be able to use my usual restrooms(Home, Work, Gym, etc) when I get back to NH. I clearly have a larger appreciation for a well maintained restroom now.
