▷ YOU CAN EITHER NAIL IT OR BLOW IT | ATTEMPT #2; TRC ENTERTAINMENT PRIVATE AUDITION pt. 2
trcent:
Once the performance comes to a close, the panel submerges in silence. The judges turn to each other to share their scores, comparing their comments and agreeing, if not disagreeing, on certain traits they found attractive or unattractive about your performance. Of course, there’s no such thing as perfection, so once they face the front, to you, they list your flaws but also compliment your obvious strengths. "We're impressed that you were able to express your own individual style through your audition. TRC Entertainment would be happy to sign you and have your skills grow under our guidance. Congratulations on passing your private audition."
She started to even play with her fingers as she waited for the results. She was even more nervous than when she had walked in, she just couldn't figure out how to stop her heart from beating so fast, it was almost annoying. Her audition was going through her mind back and forth, every mistake, every flaw she had, it was all playing over and over, even if she was trying to focus on what she had done good.
When she saw that the panel looked back at her, she was sure she was going to hear the results. She bit at her lip, about to excuse herself and maybe ask for another try, trying to convince the judges that she could do better, but before she could, she heard the words she was hoping for. TRC Entertainment would be happy to sign you. To sign you.
She almost went out of her character and jumped up in happiness, but she managed to hold herself back, or her squealing, and instead bowed politely. "Thank you!"

they're my audience | TRC Casting
Song: 01 | Outfit: 01
There was a place where Junhee usually practiced, and that wasn't in her own room, or at a friend's house, or the park. No, it was a rather unusual place — the space between two buildings in the Gangnam district. Yes, „princess Junhee“ was practicing between garbage cans, with two street dogs as her audience. It didn't start with Junhee practically choosing that place as the spot where she would practice, but in another way. Although there were many things that Junhee disliked, she loved dogs almost more than anything. When she had found two abandoned puppies a few months ago, he decided she would take care of them even if the condo where she lived did not allow large pets.
Rising them, they soon became her best friends, and even if they could not speak, she felt as if she could tell them anything and that they gave her unconditional love. After all, a dog is a man's best friend. Those dogs probably knew more about Junhee than her own parents know, they knew things that Junhee would never tell anyone else.
She had just finished her first presentation and jokingly bowed at the two dogs who had been staring at her. „Was that okay? I think it was a bit rusty here and there.“, she said with a chuckle in her tone but then rolled her eyes — it was not like the dogs were going to answer her. She made her way towards them and crouched down, with a smile on her face beginning to stroke both of their heads as the same time. „But you liked it nevertheless, right? Right?“, she asked the two as instead of stroking their heads, she began to use her fingernails to rub underneath the chins of the dogs, knowing that they liked that the most.
They almost melted in her pampering, but she soon stopped and pulled herself up on her feet. „But I kept the best for last!“, she exclaimed quite enthusiastically. What was there to be enthusiastic about performing in front of two dogs? If that question would ever — somehow — arise to you, Junhee could definitely answer it. „Wait for it.“, she said as she took a few steps back and bent to the ground to take the water bottle she had come with to pour water in the bowl the two hounds shared. She took her phone out of her pocket and shuffled through a few songs before she selected one of them, after which she placed the phone on a closed trashcan. Junhee made sure that the cap of the bottle was closed properly, but still turned it once more to make sure.
As the song started playing the intro, she fixed the hem of her shirt firstly, followed by her sleeves. She had learnt the song as the back of her hand, she knew exactly how long the intro was and when she would have to start, and when she did, she began moving her hand, gesticulating along with the song. Probably a bit generic for rappers to do that, but she had learnt to do that as well and it became like a habit whenever she was rapping — if she was not singing, she was gesticulating.
Oneulttara sure jjeoreo ma suri waeiri danji? Nega tteonaseo sirin nuni siryeoseo danji Kkeuchi boijil annneun oeroumui mangchi Gil irheun aigachi peokkingyudem — forget that damn shit Beoreutcheoreom jeonhwareul georeo sulgime Nan ajik seolleyeo neoui moksorie Areunareunhande gangnyeolhaejineun mal Dareunmareun anhae ginagin chimmungman
She looked at the two dogs who seemed to look at her quite oddly, their heads were tilted towards the right side, as if asking themselves what was up with that crazy human, but Junhee only chuckled at the sight. She was used to being watched weirdly by them, but it was entertaining and good training to pretend the two were a real audience when she couldn't experience the real cheering audience of the underground events.
Oh you got to go nege wanbyeokhan sarang chaja garago — tell that son of a bitch to watch out at night Nae apeseo boin useumeun da jjijeobeoryeosseo Nae sogeseo neoui sarangeun da garameogeosseo Geusaekki hante jeonhae bam neutge josimhaera
She was definitely feeling the music, her expression changed with the words, she would squeeze her eyes shut with every angry word or curse and open them whenever the tone would become softer or there would be a part she would have to rather whisper, along with her movements who changed with the rhythm, ranging from softer to violent, punch-like motions. Not to mention the tone of her voice.
Ireoke jjimjjimhan geo nado motchamgesseo Saram eomneun goseuro gaja Dulman itgo sipeoseo geurae Ije neon amudedo motga
Although the tone was soft, her eyebrows furrowed to form a pained expression on her face at first, due to the meaning of the last few words she put a smirk on her face instead and crushed her fist in the brick wall behind her.
Oh, she's gone yeah Oh, she's gone yeah I love you, girl I love you, girl. There’s a weird rumor that a guy went all around to find someone There’s a weird rumor that a girl vanished with a scream at night a few days ago...
With her voice turning into a whisper near the end of the song, she shut her eyes although she had the same smirk on her face — a smirk that soon disappeared when she smiled and bowed to the two hounds. She was about to thank her „audience“, but before she could, the dogs went to her and began trying to lick her face as she was bent down, giving her „congratulations“ for her performance. Junhee laughed out and crouched to the two. „Okay, okay, I get it, you loved it.“
I can do it, I can! | TRC Audition
Outfit - 01 ; Song - 01 ; Dance - 01 + 02
Maybe she wasn't made for it. Maybe she should just stick with her studies and become the successful woman her parents wanted her to become. At least that was how Yoona saw it, maybe she just wasn't performing material, maybe she should stick with doing group performances with her friends and blend in the crowd, that seemed easier at least. Sitting by herself on a bench in the park in the Gangnam district certainly did not do her thinking any good, she would only think of her faults, but when she decided she had had enough of belittling herself, she gave her head a light shake and took her earphones and phone out.
She plugged the earphones and placed them inside her ears. Music on, world off. She shuffled through her playlist and just selected a random song. She only tapped her foot against the floor to it, moving her lips to the words, but she did not really feel like going along with them and singing them out. Towards the end of the song, she held some air in and used it to puff her cheeks out, but once she heard the other song switch on, her eyes blinked once, realising immediately what song it was. She let the air escape through her lips, a chuckle leaving them as she glanced down at the screen of her phone, the title of the song.
It was one of her favorite songs, she just had to go along with it, there was something pushing her to do it and just forget about not wanting to perform anymore. She stood up from the bench as soon as the intro was finished and began going along with the song. You could say that she had forgotten she was in a public place and she was actually alone in that side of the park when she first took a seat on the bench, but in reality, it was rather that she didn't care anymore at that point.
Uh, my uncle used to drink a can of Kestrel when life got stressful, Uh, what kinda person should you be when you wanna make people accept you? Uh, what does it really mean when you dream of being famous and successful? When you were born to be special?
She moved her body along with the song, she had never prepared any dance for the song even though it was one of her favorites, she just let her body do it's own thing, she let herself go along with the flow, but for the sung chorus, she went with slower motions, softening her voice to fit the tempo as well.
I see the bright lights shine in your face I’m counting on you to take it all away (the wonderman) I saw the chosen one their calling your name Are you you Are you you, The wonder man
She had ran out of creativity for a short moment after the chorus, but she didn't stop moving, instead, she just began motioning her hands, gesticulating as she could along with the words. Due to the movement of her right hand, she accidentally popped her earphones out of her ears, the music blasting out of it enough to be heard clearly if someone was in her proxmitiy. But she was not going to stop, she had taught herself along the years to never stop, no matter what block she'd have, no matter how she felt or how wrong a move had seemed, she had to continue and just “let the show go on”.
Imagine when it changes, imagine satisfaction when you make it, Its more than being famous, More then the applause and more than any form of status, More than the performances in 20 foreign places, Benidorm, Vegas, many more praises, Amen hallelujah “Yoona look what’s happened to ya?”
She behaved as if she was alone, as if she was the last person on this Earth. To her there was nobody else left in the world but her. Everything belonged to her, it was just her alone and the world was her performing stage, it didn't matter if people would be passing by and staring at her, it wouldn't matter what they would be saying about her, even if things along the lines of “teenagers these days”, “she's just crazy”, with the music on and lost in her own little place, the world shut down for her for a few minutes and she had begun dancing once again, she really did behave as if she was at least back home in her own room, behaving crazily on her own.
And when the fans start grabbing you, Show gratitude with a little brag or two, Amen, hallelujah Tinie look what’s happened to ya, Who can say they ran all the obstacles I ran, look I traded friends for fans, cement for sand, raise your hand, the wonder man
The moment she had stopped dancing was only when the chorus was nearing the moment it would be sung the last time. She was standing in a simple position, her legs spread apart and her arms hanging by her sides, but one of her hands lifted to place to her chest. She felt her heart pulsate and beat at a rapid speed, she was panting, but she just had to carry on and finish the song, only like that she could feel accomplished, even if that accomplishment was just for herself only. But she was not going to dance, she stopped just so she could gain some of her breath and collect her voice, focusing only on the singing, as she knew she was not exactly good at it. Hence why she used her softer, but maybe a bit deeper than usual, tone when the chorus finally came in.
I see the bright lights shine in your face I’m counting on you to take it all away (the wonderman) I saw the chosen one their calling your name Are you you Are you you, the Wonderman?
||The first attempt||
Every artist needed a benefactor right? It's the reason he got up early, on his day off, and instead of locking himself in the shared bathroom and running over his practice songs repeatedly. It's why he'd dressed up in a nice pair of dress pants a freshly pressed button up shirt. It was time to charm his Great Aunt.
His parents, while doing fine financially couldn't solely support him. It's why he'd gotten the job in the first place. He would have been fine had he lived in his own hometown, but in Seoul, it seemed everything was twice as expensive. Hence the trip, visiting his Grandmother's sister, a distant relative, whom he knew to have more money than his immediate family. If he could convince her to finance his goal, he might be able to drop the job and singularly focus of training. A far fetched goal, but one he found he was needing more every single day.
Walking towards his Aunt's apartment building in the midst of Gangnam, Hakyeon realized something was a little odd. As soon as he saw the second familiar face, Hakyeaon knew, there was a scout. Scouts had a tendency to draw a crowd of a particular type. Maybe they weren't signed yet, but there were names that he now knew, these were people all fighting for the same thing he was. Underground rappers, talented dancers, experienced actors, hey all came like flies as soon as the word got out.
Could Hakyeon attempt to pull off an impromptu street performance? He'd heard of these types of castings happening, but it really wasn't his forte'. He always figured he'd have to go through traditional casting, or some sort of talent competition. It's easier to show off training in formal settings. the streets were for more charismatic people.
He crossed the threshold of his Aunt's apartment building while checking his cellphone, planning on turning it off during his visit, after all the woman as around eighty years old, she probably didn't want it interrupting them. The young singer did notice the twitter notification repeatedly showing up, even when he cleared out all of the little pop ups. Click on it to sign out fully, the first thing he saw flash across the screen
TRC AGENT IN GANGNAM
His heart skipped a beat. Triple Crown? That was his dream company. Maybe it was time to re-think his plans for the evening. But he knew he couldn't skip out on his Aunt. Not if he wanted to continue pursuing this dream for any length of time. It was the first hard choice Hakyeon came to in his life, everything else had been sort of decided either on a whim, like coming up with a reason for skipping his entrance exams, or chosen for him, like his mother's decision that he'd continue to receive piano lessons for the duration of him living in their house. But it was up to him now. Either road was a slim chance of success.
Spinning on his heel, Hakyeon sped down the street, while scrolling through his twitter feed, trying to figure out exactly where the scout would be. Managing to circle in on the approximate location, he quickly typed the street into the map application on his phone, jogging as soon as he got turn by turn instructions, arriving on a busy street. On one sides businesses and shops were conducting their daily routines. Workers and patrons moved in and out in a crowd. It was right about time for people to be getting off work, so the sidewalk seemed almost overflowing with people.
It might not have been the formal situation he'd grown used to in lessons, but it was almost comforting. More reminiscent he'd good off with his friends. Hakyeon took his place on a street corner. People would get backed up as traffic made it impossible to cross the streets, but when he got there, both sides of the corner were allowing people to cross, leaving it pretty empty, which is what he needed for the beginning of this. Taking a moment to pull up a different application on his phone, singularly titled "The Looper" he punched the screen a few times and took a steadying breath before beginning.
Record It all starts with the beat. The kickdrum has to be replaced with his fist, pounding against the metal pole of the corner's streetlight, toe tapping in time. Play He only waits 4 beats before pressing the button to stop the recording. Immediately the new back beat starts to play without dropping a beat. Carefully, he sets his phone on top of a sign built out of the poll, propping it up. Record Without a guitar, Hakyeon must improvise, brushing the backs of his nails against one another quickly, mimicking the strum pattern. When he'd learned this song it was the first time it was all about ingenuity. The original singer was using her guitar as a percussion instrument, and now he didn't even had that. Play A few more swipes on the phones screen allowed him to bring up the volume of his muted-guitar-string-replacement. Record "Chisch...Chisch...Chisch." He nodded along to try and keep to the time. By the third layer it was all or nothing. If he stopped now, he'd look like an idiot, so there was no screwing up. Play Now people were noticing something was happening. Even with a clear road, a few people stopped to stare at the musician. Record "Woohoo...." he sang to his, clapping, intermixing 3 of with tom-tom-replacement noises with established beat. It was weird, because at this point he stood, half way facing the road. Play More people gathered as he quickly refined the mixture of volumes. "Just pretend you're in you're own neighborhood, screwing around with your phone. This isn't a big deal..." Hakyeon is trying to force himself to think, but the thoughts, both negative and positive disappear entirely as he's swept up in the song Record He picks up his phone again, turning to a crowd of ten people circling him. The light on the road switches, starting to trap otherwise passerby's on the corner again. Harmonizing with his own voice, he realizes that this could possibly not be a disaster. Play Again he has to improvise for the guitar he doesn't has on him, except the back of his nails won't cut it. Hakyeon never considered himself a particularly great beat boxer, but he understood rhythm and he could copy sounds. The less complicated chords he was was mimicking helped to hide his flaws as well. Record Settling on how he wanted it to sound, he hit the button a final time, recording the last of the background noise. Play
Well my heart knows me better than I know myself So I'm going to let it do all the talkin'
His English pronunciation was flawed, only being good enough get good grades in his English class, Hakyeon had practically learned this song phonetically.
Came across a place in the middle of nowhere With a big black horse in a cherry tree
He put on hand in his pocket, the other holding his phone out to be heard, he moved along to the music, going so far as to close his eyes. This just wasn't the type of music you tried to push on to people. It had a groove to it. The small crowd started to follow the sound of his claps while he sang a 3rd harmony over the looping "woohoos"
Felt a little fear upon my back 'said don't look back just keep on walkin' Woohoo Woohoo Big black horse said look this way He said hey little baby won't you marry me.
Hakyeon lost himself in the song, the noise of the crowd surprisingly not falling into blackness, but mixing with music, making it fuller and beautiful to his ears. For a brief space in time, he wasn't thinking about everything he lacked as a potential trainee, only enjoying everything he could do.
[The arrangement he preformed.]
